- End of 1st Half
Half-time: Paris Saint-Germain lead Manchester City1-0 in an enthralling Group A match thanks to Idrissa Gueye's eighth-minute strike.
Textbook defending from Hakimi who clears with a dangerous City cross with a diving header. Moments later, Mahrez is unable to control a ball over the top before Sterling is caught offside. City are finishing the half on top.
There will be FOUR minutes of time added on at the end of a pulsating first half.
Close! Dias wriggles free of his marker to meet De Bruyne's corner delivery at the back post. His downward header has plenty of power behind it and Donnarumma does well to turn it behind for another corner.
Gueye is back to his feet and ready to resume action, as City force a corner.
- Yellow cardKevin De BruyneManchester City
Yellow card! De Bruyne goes into the referee's book for a nasty foul on Gueye. The PSG man stays down and is clearly hurt.
City are caught napping as the hosts play a short corner. Mbappe drills a low ball across the face of goal, but none of his team mates were in position to tap home!
A wonderful move from PSG! Neymar finds space down the left. The offside flag stays down as he cuts it back for Herrera to have a first-time shot. It's straight down the throat of Ederson, who tips it over the bar!
Save! Mahrez rolls a pass into the box, De Bruyne gets a shot away from inside the box he couldn't quite wrap his foot around it and it's another routine stop for Donnarumma.
Neymar is spotted by Messi, who threads a lovely ball into his path. The Brazilian tries an early shoot, and that's pretty wild, hitting row-Z.
Mbappe, who appears to be in an offside position, carves inside after receiving the pass from Gueye. He rolls it to Messi, who shoots over the bar.
Save! Grealish rolls a pass into the feet of Cancelo. The City wingback really catches a hold of the shot but it's a comfortable save for Donnarumma.
Dias goes to ground as City's corner is delivered. The referee isn't moved.
PSG try and fail to play out from the back as Bernardo forces a mistake. Herrera, however, is back there to tidy up. City are on top at the moment.
City hit the crossbar, twice! De Bruyne fires in a cross and Sterling's point-blank header smashes off the crossbar! It falls kindly for Bernardo who somehow strikes the woodwork with the follow-up! How have City not scored?!
- Yellow cardJoão CanceloManchester City
Yellow card! Cancelo goes into the book for a cynical foul on Mbappe to stop PSG from countering.
De Bruyne delivers the resulting corner to the edge of the penalty area but Marquinhos has read his mind and nicks in front of the Algerian.
City are growing in confidence and are enjoying a decent spell now. Cancelo almost picks out Bernardo with a teasing deep cross but it's brilliantly dealt with by the PSG defence - at the cost of a corner.
PSG have lost their last three games here against English teams, but it's so far so good for Pochettino's side.
It's City's turn to threaten as they build an attack down the right. Mahrez's floating cross is searching for Sterling but Donnarumma is out bravely to punch the ball clear.
A promising City ends in frustration when Grealish gets too much zip on a return ball to Bernardo.
Here's the goal...
Messi and Hakimi have the potential to do some real damage down the right and they combine before Mbappe takes over in the middle. PSG have the momentum now.
- GoalIdrissa GueyeParis Saint-Germain
GOAL! Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 Manchester City (Idrissa Gueye): What a finish from Gueye to hand PSG the perfect start! The hosts flood forward, Mbappe driving to the by-line. He pulls it back for Neymar centrally but he swings and misses. It falls to Gueye, who takes a touch before smashing it into the top corner!
Messi starts on the right for PSG, Mbappe is through the middle and Neymar is deployed on the left. For City, Sterling is flanked by Grealish on the left and Mahrez on the right.
A ball over the top from Cancelo picks out Grealish in space on the left flank but the former Villa player is caught in an offside position.
De Bruyne floats a cross into the PSG penalty area after Veratti fouled Sterling but the delivery is comfortable for the hosts to defend.
Donnarumma gets his hands on the ball for the first time in the Champions League, racing off his line to collect Dias' long pass out of defence.
- 1st Half
Kick-off! The players of both teams take the knee. There's a false start before City, in their white away strip, get us underway in Paris!
That famous old tune rings around Parc des Princes as we edge closer to what is a mouth-watering clash between two European heavyweights.
Paris Saint-Germain have failed to keep a clean sheet in all four of their meetings with Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League - only against AC Milan have they played as many games without managing a clean sheet in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League (also four).
Will history repeat itself tonight?
While PSG flattered to deceive in the draw with Club Brugge last time out, Man City hit six past last season's Bundesliga runners-up RB Leipzig...
Opta stat: Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City will meet for the sixth time in this game, while the French side are still looking for their first win in this fixture (D2 L3). Only against Juventus (8) have Paris Saint-Germain played more games in European competition without winning.
Mauricio Pochettino stresses Messi needs time to adjust at PSG. "He did 20 years in Barcelona, it's normal he felt at home there and here, everything is new for him. He did not arrive a long time ago," said the PSG boss.
PSG's deadly trio - widely predicted to be the world's greatest ever front three - have played 125 minutes together, but so far they have yet to click. They toiled in a 1-1 draw with Club Brugge in the opening matchday in Group A before Messi was subbed in the 75th-minute, failing to make an impact, as PSG left it late to beat Lyon 2-1. Tonight is their time to shine, says Le Parisien.
A big night for Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson. Can he help keep MNM (Messi, Neymar and Mbappe) quiet?
"Some at the Etihad Stadium, maybe even Guardiola himself, might still feel a pang of regret over not signing Messi when they had the chance this summer, but victory over PSG would help justify their decision," Graham Ruthven argues...
Pep on Messi: "I think this type of player, Messi especially, speaks for himself on the pitch, so I don’t have to add anything else. We are fortunate to have seen him during this 15 or 16-year career. Messi speaks for himself, we don’t have to describe him or talk about him. Just what he has done in his career is more than exceptional and hopefully tomorrow he can play for the benefit of the game."
As expected, Messi starts following a two-game absence to form an attacking trio with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. The Argentine is one of four changes from PSG's victory over Montpellier, with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma handed his Champions League debut - replacing Keylor Navas - Nuno Mendes coming in for Diallo at left-back and the fit again Marco Verratti restored in midfield.
Gabriel Jesus' reward for scoring the decisive goal in City's victory over Chelsea on Saturday is a place on the bench, as Guardiola makes two changes to his side. Raheem Sterling comes in in his place, while Riyad Mahrez gets the nod ahead of Phil Foden. The City boss keeps faith in Aymeric Laporte who partners Ruben Dias in defence on what could be a busy night for the visiting backline.
