Manchester City take on Real Madrid in their semi-final clash of the Champions League, with the first leg taking place on Tuesday, May 9 at the Bernabeu. City go into the first leg as slight favourites - even though they lost to Real last year - having taken control of the Premier League title race. Real Madrid, meanwhile, have struggled to find their best form this season under Carlo Ancelotti.

Guardiola hopes Haaland 'advantage' will help Man City against Real

How to watch Real Madrid v Manchester City in the semi-finals of the Champions League, what channel the match is on in the UK, and what time kick-off is.
City have never won the Champions League and manager Pep Guardiola has not lifted the trophy since he left Barcelona more than a decade ago, but his side will go into the first leg full of confidence after finally taking control of the Premier League title race.
Guardiola has stressed that Manchester City are not out for "revenge" against Real in the Champions League after losing 6-5 on aggregate to the La Liga champions at the same stage of the competition last year.
“We are not here for revenge. What happened, happened in the past,” he said.
“The lesson we can learn is to learn a little bit what happened, get a good result and perform well tomorrow to give us the opportunity to reach the final when we play in Manchester.
“This is completely different to last season. It didn't happen last season because we played Real Madrid and they know what to do. But the more we play against them the more we learn.
“The psychological part I don't know how important it is, we just need to play the best we can.”

Man City 'proven finalists' says Foden ahead of Real Madrid clash

Real, who have unprecedented success in the tournament, are still the underdogs after a few struggles under Carlo Ancelotti in La Liga this season.
Ancelotti is wary of the threat of City striker Erling Haaland.
“They were a very dangerous team last season but Haaland brings something different," he told reporters. "They can play more direct if needed. De Bruyne plays in behind Haaland and can bring the ball down.
“The tie will be decided in that return leg. We want to take a good result to Manchester.”

Guardiola: The game could be over for the chances

At the weekend, Guardiola had only minor quibbles against Leeds as he beat his peer, Sam Allardyce.
But with Haaland giving a penalty to Ilkay Gundogan against Guardiola's wishes, are the Citizens becoming complacent?

'We deserved to win' - Ancelotti on Copa del Rey final victory over Osasuna

Guardiola said of record-breaking scorer Haaland: "He is ruthless, but at the same time if Ilkay has never scored a hat-trick, he's so generous, so nice. Who knows, the feeling is he has more confidence right now because he's taken 10 or 11 penalties and has the feeling, Gundo doesn't have the feeling. I understand both sides. The game could be over for the chances.
"At 2-0 you have to close it. You don't have to give anything. If you can control you have to control. Saying that, Gundo could have scored, other ones could have missed. It's not about that. I admire that Gundo wanted to take the responsibility to take the penalty. That is the best value as a player. Normally the taker is the taker, Erling has to take it, he's the specialist."

Ancelotti: We play with 12 against 11

Ancelotti was in bullish mood after Real Madrid with victory over Osasuna.
"My message is let's go for Tuesday, that's it," said the Italian.
"We know that like today and like other days at the Bernabeu, they will push us. We have a small advantage in the first leg and that is that we play with 12 against 11. We are preparing for Tuesday's game in a good, happy and excited atmosphere.
"This Copa has come at an important moment, after overcoming complicated qualifying rounds. It’s a well-deserved prize after all the effort.
"The stress is very big in this type of match, especially when you are such a favourite. I’m happy, but fatigue prevails. We will realise tomorrow what we have achieved not only tonight but in these two seasons. Let’s think about Tuesday."
