Andre Onana's decline in form at Manchester United a 'real head-scratcher' – James Horncastle

According to TNT Sports pundit James Horncastle, Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana’s decline in form is a 'real head-scratcher'. Onana, who joined United from Inter Milan earlier this year, made two errors during his side's 3-3 draw against Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League. It is not the first time he has been at fault for a goal this season.

Mistakes from Andre Onana during Manchester United's dramatic 3-3 draw with Galatasaray left Erik ten Hag's side on the brink of an unceremonious exit from the UEFA Champions League.
The goalkeeper fumbled two free-kicks from Hakim Ziyech, allowing Galatasaray back into a game that United had led by two goals.
The resulting draw in Istanbul left United bottom of Group A with just four points from five matches.
While Onana has kept five clean sheets in the Premier League this season, joint top with Crystal Palace’s Sam Johnstone and Newcastle’s Nick Pope, his time at United so far has been marked with calamitous errors.
At times, he has seemed a shadow of the goalkeeper at Inter Milan who earned a move in the region of £50 million to the Premier League after a number of impressive performances.
TNT Sports pundit James Horncastle felt this way after Onana’s latest display.
"He was outstanding last year, and a lot of people when they hear that, think I mean with the ball, as a deep-lying goalkeeping playmaker," Horncastle said.
"No, he was great with the gloves on his hands. I remember, when Inter had the round-of-16 game against Porto, he kept them in that game with massive saves. He's made more mistakes this season with United three months in, than he did all last year with Inter.
"I think part of that is down to what's going on in front of him. Part of that is down to himself.
"But it's a real head-scratcher, because he was undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the world last year.
"I thought even at €50m, they were getting him in for a bargain, because I thought he would push the world record for a goalkeeper he was that good, even in the Champions League final."
Following the draw to Galatasaray, United manager Erik ten Hag refused to blame any of his players for the result.
"It's always me, and I'm responsible for this," he said. "But also, we know we are in a project, and we are making improvements, so that's very hopeful. We are in the right direction."
To reach the knockout stages from Group A, United must defeat Bayern Munich at Old Trafford in their final game and hope that Copenhagen and Galatasaray play out a draw in their fixture.
