A mature and composed Arsenal side took another step towards the knock-out stages of the Champions League as they breezed to a 2-0 victory over Sevilla.
The Gunners, who enjoyed 68% possession in the first-half, were on top from the off at the Emirates Stadium, with Kai Havertz guilty of missing an early sitter from close range.
A number of other chances from inside the box were wasted as the hosts were guilty of not hitting the target, but they eventually made their dominance count when Leandro Trossard converted from close range after good work by Jorginho and Bukayo Saka.
It took some time for the second to come, as the hosts often struggled with their final ball despite getting into many promising positions, but Saka eventually got it with an emphatic finish midway through the second half.
That well and truly put the game to bed, with Sevilla offering little resistance as they went out of the game with a whimper, failing to register a shot until the 97th minute.

Talking point - Arsenal made to wait to reach last-16

The Gunners are now on the verge of reaching the knock-out stages after their third win in four matches in Group B, the only blemish coming in that shock defeat in France to Lens.
Indeed, if it wasn’t for PSV’s surprise victory over the Blood and Gold in the Netherlands, tonight’s success would have been enough to send Arsenal through.
As it is, Mikel Arteta’s side now need to pick up just one point from their remaining two fixtures to continue what is a stunning statistic; they have qualified from the initial group stage of every European campaign in which they have competed this century.

Player of the match - Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal)

The Brazilian was an absolute joy to watch, as he beat his man for fun down the Arsenal left.
Sevilla simply couldn’t handle him, with the trademark turn of pace, or the ability to spin on a sixpence, meaning the forward regularly got around the outside and broke into the box.
The only thing that was missing from his game was that end product, with his crosses regularly evading a team-mate, but there’s no doubt that Martinelli left the fans purring after starring throughout.
