Arsenal are well placed to advance to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, as they are top of Group B at the halfway point. A home game against Sevilla at the Emirates on Wednesday evening hands The Gunners the chance to press on, and manager Mikel Arteta wants his side to be ruthless when they get the chance against their Spanish opponents.

Mikel Arteta has called on his Arsenal team to be ruthless in their UEFA Champions League clash with Sevilla on Wednesday.
The Gunners returned to the top tier of European competition this term after seven seasons away, and have made a bright start to their quest to advance from the group stage.
Arsenal sit top of Group B, a point clear of Lens, and have a chance to reinforce their position with a home game against Sevilla - which is live on TNT Sports.
Arteta expects the Spanish side to provide a stiff test - as the Champions League “level is really high” - but wants his players to embrace the occasion and take their chances.
“The level is really high,” Arteta told TNT Sports. “It is tough to win games in this competition.
“We are in a good position and we have the chance to take bigger steps in this competition.”
With wins over PSV Eindhoven and Sevilla, and a loss against Lens, Arsenal have faced all the teams in their group.
Arteta feels the second round of games will be different, as teams will have bundles of data on their opponents, but the goal is to take opportunities when they arise.
“We are focused on what we have to do to win the game, and to earn the right to play against these teams and be disciplined and courageous to make it happen,” he said.
“We have had three games, we know these teams, they know us, so the challenge is a little bit different.
“We have to be ruthless. In the Champions League you have to be absolutely ruthless when you have the opportunities.
“We have to make the teams suffer. We have been waiting many years to play these games, the anger has to be seen immediately from the first minute.
"It is about your determination to make things happen. If it does not happen now, it is then about the next one. You cannot stop.
“You have to make the opponent suffer and you go and go and go.”
While Arsenal have made a good start to the competition, Arteta feels there is improvement in his team.
”We always expect the best impression from our team,” Arteta said. “I want to the see the best impression of my team.
“We have had some really good moments, and some learnings as well, and hopefully we get better and better.”
