Harry Kane said Bayern Munich have to play with “more energy and confidence” after a 1-0 UEFA Champions League defeat to Lazio rounded off a “tough week” for the German giants. Bayern were also humbled 3-0 by Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday to fall five points behind in the Bundesliga title race. Kane is now at risk of failing to win a trophy in his first season at Bayern.

Harry Kane said Bayern Munich have to play with “more energy and confidence” after a 1-0 UEFA Champions League defeat to Lazio rounded off a “tough week” for the German giants.
Bayern were thrashed 3-0 by Bayer Leverkusen in a top-of-the-table Bundesliga clash on Saturday and another defeat in Rome has piled the pressure on beleaguered boss Thomas Tuchel and his cast of star players.
Kane was among those who failed to fire at the Stadio Olimpico, blazing an early chance over the bar that would have settled the visitors’ nerves.
But Bayern were undone just over 20 minutes from time as Dayot Upamecano was sent off for a studs-up lunge on Gustav Isaksen inside the box, and Ciro Immobile converted from the penalty spot to give Lazio a priceless lead to take to the Aliianz Arena in three weeks’ time.
"Really tough week," Kane told TNT Sports. "I thought the game today in the first half we started well, we had some clear chances, I had one myself, Jamal [Musiala] had one, and in these games they are big moments and we weren't able to take them in the first half, but the second half was disappointing.
"We came out with less energy, less confidence, too many balls given away and ultimately we got punished. Once you go down to 10 men, it's always difficult to find a way back into the game.
"I think for us now we have to find it amongst ourselves. We have to find more energy and more confidence. We're still in a race for the Bundesliga, still in this tie when they come to our stadium in a few weeks, so we have to keep fighting and look forward and try and turn our momentum around."
Kane’s move to Bavaria from Tottenham was meant to ensure that the England captain would finally end his wait to win a major trophy at club or international level.
Despite his 28 goals in 29 appearances this season, the 30-year-old is now in danger of failing to lift silverware in his first season in Germany.
Bayern have won the Bundesliga for the past 11 seasons, but trail unbeaten Leverkusen by five points at the top of the table and were also humbled in the German Cup in November by third-tier Saarbrucken.
Kane, though, remains confident Bayern can turn their season around with plenty still to fight for.
He said: “We have big games, big things to fight for still. We're not out of it. We will never give up and we just need to turn it around.
“One game or one spark can change a lot in football and we need to try and find that so we'll push together. We'll push each other in training and in the game on the weekend and try and find it.”
The second leg between Bayern and Lazio is live on TNT Sports on March 5.
