Newcastle seek triumphant return to UEFA Champions League
Newcastle have not appeared in the UEFA Champions League since the 2002/2003 season.
That season, AC Milan lifted the famous trophy. This time around, Newcastle kick off their campaign against the Italian giants in Group F, where they must also get the better of Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain to make it through to the knockout stages.
Newcastle were also in a tough group the last time they were in the UEFA Champions League, finishing third behind Barcelona and Inter Milan.
It's an induction of fire for the Magpies, who returned to winning ways ahead of facing AC Milan with a 1-0 victory over Brentford in the Premier League.
Speaking to TNT Sports before the draw, Howe said: "We need to make sure we're ready for it [the Champions League] because it will be a change and an added dynamic for the season.
"I'm sure it will test us and stretch us in lots of different ways, but I think ultimately we have to look at it as a huge positive, and we're really looking forward to it."
