Erling Haaland shirt swap: Young Boys manager Raphael Wicky to 'have a word' with captain Mohamed Ali Camara

Young Boys manager Raphael Wicky will “have a word” with captain Mohamed Ali Camara after finding out he swapped shirts with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland at half-time of their 3-0 defeat.

The Swiss side trailed 2-0 courtesy of a Haaland penalty and a Phil Foden strike in the opening period when Camara asked the Norweigian for his shirt at the break.

Seemingly disgruntled at the request, Haaland reluctantly handed his shirt over as the players approached the tunnel.

Haaland went on to score again in the second half to cement City’s perfect start to their Champions League campaign.

"I didn't see that, that's news to me,” an unimpressed Wicky revealed after the game. “I'm a little bit surprised about that right now.

"On the other hand, I don't think it has anything to do with the game, but I'll have a word with him. Maybe Erling asked him.

"At the end of the day, I don’t think this has anything to do with the performance but I will have a word with the player."

Speaking on TNT Sports' TV coverage, Ally McCoist on commentary described the incident as 'embarrassing' as he hit out at the player.

"100% not having it", he said when asked by Darren Fletcher where he stood on the swap. "That's embarrassing. Not having that at all, Fletch. Not having it at all"

As Haaland scored his second and City's third with a thunderous effort from the edge of the penalty area however, McCoist appeared to change his tune.

"You should ask him for his jersey after that one to be fair," he joked.

Guardiola, perhaps less concerned because the result meant his side qualified for the round of 16, said it wasn't "a big subject” for him.

Haaland has now scored four goals in four European games this season, adding to his remarkable record of 39 goals in 34 Champions League appearances.

City have enjoyed the perfect start to their title defence, qualifying with four-straight wins alongside RB Leipzig in second place, but still have top spot to play for.

FK Crvena Zvezda and Young Boys have a point between them and will compete for a spot in the Europa League in their remaining games.
