Newcastle United are solely focused on winning when they host PSG in their hotly-anticipated UEFA Champions League showdown at St James' Park, says Kieran Tripper. In their first group-stage fixture of the season, Newcastle held AC Milan to a goalless draw. Trippier emphasised the team's belief that they can defeat any opponent, while manager Eddie Howe spoke of Kylian Mbappe's threat.

Newcastle United want "nothing more" than a win when they take on Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, according to Kieran Tripper.
The match will mark the first time Newcastle have hosted a Champions League group stage match in over two decades. Eddie Howe's first match in Group F saw them hold AC Milan to a goalless draw at the San Siro.
When asked what would be considered a good result against the French champions, Trippier told TNT Sports: "A win. On our day, when we're playing our best football, we can beat anyone, so we shouldn't be looking at a draw. It should be a win."
Trippier made the move to Newcastle in the 2022 winter transfer window after three seasons at Atletico Madrid. Despite the club being in a relegation battle at the time, the defender said their positive trajectory prompted his decision to move to Tyneside.
"I never thought I'd be in the Champions League so soon, but throughout my whole career, I hold no regrets. I always believe in every decision that I make," the 33-year-old said.
"I think it was the right one. Obviously, [it's easy] to say that now, but even at the time, it was a perfect decision to come back to England.
"I always believed I could help the team get out of relegation and push on as a club. Full credit to the owners and the manager."

'We have to stop him' - Howe on Mbappe

PSG will be hoping to spoil the party at St James' Park on the back of their 2-0 victory against Dortmund in their first Group F match.
The French champions may have started their domestic season poorly, but they still boast the formidable Kylian Mbappe in attack, with Magpies boss Eddie Howe talking up the 2018 World Cup winner ahead of the clash.
"I struggle to think of many better players in the world than him at the moment. I think he's got that mix of technical ability, superb athleticism and speed, and goalscoring ability as well, so of course, we have to stop him," Howe told TNT Sports.
"But we also have to stop the supply to him and we have to try and stop other good players. So I don't think we can just purely focus on one player, albeit we know how good he is."
Howe continued: "I think what we've done really well is not focusing on the opposition. Of course, they're important in the game, and we have to go up against them, but we've got to be ourselves and execute a really good game plan of what we want to do.
"It's always a balance, and hopefully we get that balance right."
