Kamil Grabara had a moment to forget when he let a Julian Alvarez shot go through his hands to give Manchester City a 2-0 lead over Copenhagen just 10 minutes into the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 clash. Rio Ferdinand said it looked like "the Masked Singer in goal" as the Polish stopper was sporting a mask that he has worn since suffering a facial injury in 2022.

Rio Ferdinand said Copenhagen goalkeeper Kamil Grabara looked like “the Masked Singer in goal” after committing a huge error against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.
The Polish stopper let a seemingly harmless Julian Alvarez shot squirm through his hands as the Danish side went 2-0 down inside 10 minutes in the last-16 clash.
That put City 5-1 up on aggregate with 80 minutes left to play, and TNT Sports pundit Ferdinand was left perplexed by the error.
“I thought when I saw the replay it could have been the Masked Singer in goal,” he said.
“It was a speculative strike, he’s hitting and hoping from that angle. But he put enough pace on it and the keeper lost concentration, unfortunately for him. I hope he recovers.”
TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher couldn’t find any defence for the 25-year-old, who has worn a mask since suffering a facial fracture in 2022.
“The only excuse he’s got is that the mask might have slipped over his eyes,” said Fletcher.
“Apart from that, I can’t make any excuse for him. Any goalkeeper has to save that, it’s straight at him.”
Alvarez’s strike came after a well-taken opener inside five minutes from Manuel Akanji to send City cruising towards the quarter-finals.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain were the first teams to book a spot in the last eight on Tuesday, after wins over Lazio and Real Sociedad, respectively.
