David Clarkson is set for talks with Bristol City after the Championship club agreed a fee with Motherwell for the Scotland international.
The 23-year-old was a key man at Fir Park last season scoring 14 goals in 36 starts, but he will open negotiations with City early next week.
A statement on the Robins' official website read: "Bristol City Football Club can confirm it has agreed an undisclosed fee with Motherwell for striker David Clarkson.
"The club has been given permission to speak to the player and will do so early next week. The club will make no further comment at this stage."
Clarkson made his debut for the Scottish Premier League club in 2002 as a 16-year-old and was soon a regular in the Motherwell team.
He earned Scotland Under-21 honours and made a goalscoring debut for the senior team last year in a friendly against the Czech Republic.
