Team news: Campbell to make debut

Birmingham goalkeeper Jack Butland will face Nottingham Forest despite joining Stoke on transfer deadline day. The 19-year-old agreed a move to the Premier League club but was immediately loaned back to the Blues for the remainder of the season. Striker Wes Thomas is set to make his debut after joining on-loan from Bournemouth until the summer. Thomas, 26, has already enjoyed successful loan spells with both Portsmouth and Blackpool this season. Blues trio Marlon King, Curtis Davies and Chris Burke all remain at the club after a number of bids for their services were rejected on Thursday. News that they will remain at St Andrews at least until the summer will be a huge boost for manager Lee Clark, who insisted he didn't want to let any of them go. Akwasi Asante, Darren Ambrose, David Murphy, Stephen Carr and Will Packwood remain sidelined.

Alex McLeish, meanwhile, takes charge of Nottingham Forest amid rumours of a bust-up with club owners. McLeish, in charge at St Andrew's between November 2007 and June 2011, saw his deadline-day move for Peterborough's George Boyd fall through over an eye test. The Scot is waiting to see whether he will be able to include Adlene Guedioura as part of the Reds' travelling party. The midfielder is due back in Nottingham following Algeria's elimination from the African Cup of Nations in South Africa. McLeish also hopes to have Kuwaiti goalkeeper Khaled Al-Rashidi on the bench as cover for Karl Darlow after the 25-year-old this week moved to the City Ground on a free transfer from Al Arabi. On-loan defender Daniel Ayala (hamstring) and striker Marcus Tudgay (collarbone) remain unavailable.

Blackburn manager Michael Appleton has a decision to make at right-back. Todd Kane was cup-tied for last weekend's impressive 3-0 win at Derby and is available to return, but the on-loan Chelsea youngster must contest a place with Bradley Orr, who has returned from a loan spell at Ipswich. Former Manchester United forward Josh King suffered a recurrence of his hamstring problem during the opening stages at Pride Park and Rovers are slightly light on attacking options following a frustrating transfer deadline day. Playmaker Ruben Rochina departed on loan to Real Zaragoza in his native Spain, winger Diogo Rosado did likewise in joining Benfica, while attacking midfielder Simon Vukcevic was released by mutual agreement. However, deals to bring in QPR striker DJ Campbell and West Brom winger Jerome Thomas fell foul of the 11pm cut-off point. Full-back Adam Henley (hamstring), goalkeeper Paul Robinson (back) and midfielder Dickson Etuhu (knee) remain sidelined.

Bristol City captain Cole Skuse is a doubt for the trip to Blackburn. Skuse had to be withdrawn after just 21 minutes of the midweek win over Watford with a knee injury and City's medical staff are awaiting the results of a scan. When the opening goalscorer Greg Cunningham limped off with a minute to go there were fears he could be set for a spell on the sidelines but he just took a kick to the leg and will be fine. Australia international Neil Kilkenny is ruled out for the next two or three weeks with his ankle injury while Ryan Taylor is sidelined with dislocated shoulder. In-demand winger Albert Adomah remains on African Cup of Nations duty with Ghana.

Reece Wabara is available to make his Blackpool debut. Fresh from completing a spell at Oldham with the winning goal against Liverpool in the FA Cup last weekend, Manchester City right-back Wabara joined Pool on loan until the end of the season. Nottingham Forest loanee Matt Derbyshire, who also enjoyed time at Boundary Park earlier this term, may push for a start in attack having played the final half hour of last weekend's 2-1 win at Wolves. Tom Ince scored both of the Seasiders' goals in a superb individual display and his club successfully rebuffed a bid from Reading as the January transfer window came to a close this week. Centre-back Ian Evatt is a long-term absentee following knee surgery.

Barnsley manager David Flitcroft is expected to include new loan signings Rory Delap and Chris O'Grady. Stoke midfielder Delap and Sheffield Wednesday striker O'Grady have both signed on loan until the end of the season and could feature at Bloomfield Road. However, John Stones will be unavailable after his deadline day move to Everton. The Tykes extended their unbeaten run to five matches in midweek with a home win over Millwall and manager David Flitcroft has no new injury or suspension problems. New signing Jason Scotland is pushing for his first start after stepping off the bench and scoring with his first touch on Tuesday night and midfielder Jacob Mellis is also hoping to play a bigger role. Defender Bobby Hassell and Scott Wiseman will both return to contention after sustaining knocks in last weekend's FA Cup win at Hull and sitting among the substitutes against Millwall. Midfielder Stephen Dawson (ankle) and defender Jim McNulty (hamstring) remain sidelined as the Tykes chase a third straight win.

Crystal Palace have added strikers Kevin Phillips and Stephen Dobbie to their ranks. Phillips is reunited with Ian Holloway after moving from Blackpool and Dobbie, who also played under the Palace boss at Bloomfield Road, has joined from Brighton. Palace will check on skipper Mile Jedinak, who suffered an eye injury from a stray arm against Huddersfield on Wednesday night and may have to play in a mask. Fellow midfielder Andre Moritz is also a doubt after suffering an ankle injury in the 1-0 defeat in Yorkshire. Former Charlton defender Paddy McCarthy, full-back Joel Ward (both groin) and midfielder Owen Garvan (knee) are still out while Kagisho Dikgacoi is on African Cup of Nations duty.

Leon Cort could return to the Charlton side against his former club Crystal Palace. The defender was on the bench following a spell out with a hamstring injury as the Addicks' three-game winning streak came to an end with a 2-1 defeat by Sheffield Wednesday last weekend. Striker Ricardo Fuller is also pushing to face his old employers after coming on as a substitute against the Owls. Winger Danny Green and forward Bradley Wright-Phillips are available after proposed deadline-day moves to Swindon fell through. Striker Danny Haynes is close to fitness after a hamstring injury and will be assessed but midfielder Andy Hughes is still on the comeback trail after a long-term Achilles problem and is not ready to return.

Leading scorer Theo Robinson is expected to return to the Derby squad. Robinson missed last weekend's FA Cup fourth-round defeat to Blackburn due to a bout of tonsilitis but the nine-goal striker resumed training on Tuesday.

Huddersfield are likely to be without striker Jermaine Beckford. Beckford, on loan from Leicester, stepped off the substitutes' bench in the closing stages of the midweek win over Crystal Palace and lasted only three minutes before being withdrawn again due to a hamstring problem. Caretaker managers Mark Lillis and Steve Eyre, taking charge of their third game since the sacking of Simon Grayson last week, could be boosted by the return of Chris Atkinson (thigh), who has missed the last five matches. Fellow midfielder Keith Southern and winger Danny Ward remain sidelined with respective Achilles and foot injuries. Defender Joel Lynch (hamstring) is closing in on a return to action after a five-game absence and midfielder Oscar Gobern, yet to appear this season following ankle surgery in the summer, is expected to be back in contention in the next couple of weeks.

Ipswich are expected to hand a debut to Richard Stearman. The Wolves defender joined until the end of the season during the week and should come straight in at right-back after Bradley Orr returned to Blackburn following the end of his loan spell. Fellow new arrival Anthony Wordsworth could also feature after signing from Colchester for an undisclosed fee. The midfielder is likely to start from the bench as Mick McCarthy's side look to end a run of four league games without a win. Striker Paul Taylor remains a long-term absentee after suffering a foot injury in only his third appearance for the club back in September, but McCarthy otherwise enjoys a clean bill of health.

Kieron Dyer could make his Middlesbrough debut against his first club Ipswich. Boss Tony Mowbray will make a late decision on Jonathan Woodgate, who has missed the last four games with a calf injury but has returned to training. Striker Scott McDonald sat out the 2-1 FA Cup fourth-round victory over League Two Aldershot with a tight hamstring and he will be assessed, as will fellow frontman Ishmael Miller (ankle), before Mowbray makes a final decision. Midfielder Josh McEachran, however, will be available after being ineligible for the cup game under the terms of his loan agreement with parent club Chelsea. But full-back Justin Hoyte is facing six to eight weeks on the sidelines with a hip injury he suffered during the 1-0 league defeat at Leicester on January 18.

Leeds are expected to include new signing Stephen Warnock in their squad. But another new recruit, Steve Morison, must wait for his debut after arriving from Norwich in a swap deal with Luciano Becchio as he is struggling with a thigh injury. Leeds agreed a permanent deal with Aston Villa for Warnock on transfer deadline day and manager Neil Warnock must decide whether to include him from the start. Warnock must also decide whether to recall teenage loanee Ross Barkley to his starting line-up. The Everton midfielder was not given permission to play in last Sunday's FA Cup win over Tottenham. Paddy Kenny will be hoping to return after being replaced by Jamie Ashdown against Spurs while midfielders Michael Tonge and David Norris, plus defender Jason Pearce and striker Davide Somma are all aiming to feature.

New signing Fraizer Campbell is set to make his Cardiff debut. The 25-year-old striker joined from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee last week and is likely to be involved at Elland Road. Defender Simon Lappin is also available after signing a permanent deal with the club following his departure from Norwich. Craig Bellamy, who returned to the Wales squad this week, missed the victory at Blackpool with a stomach bug but is fully fit and ready to feature against Neil Warnock's men, who knocked Tottenham out of the FA Cup on Sunday. This clash is the Championship leaders' first match for two weeks due to their cup exit at the hands of Macclesfield and manager Malky Mackay took his side away for warm-weather training in Dubai. The only long-term injury absentee for Mackay is Nicky Maynard, who is likely to miss the rest of the season.

Rob Hulse is set to make his full Millwall debut. The striker came on as a substitute during Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat at Barnsley, just a few hours after joining the Lions on loan from QPR. Winger Scott Malone could be added to the squad after recovering from a back injury, but on-loan Derby forward Nathan Tyson is still out with ankle ligament damage. Full-back Adam Smith will play after extending his loan from Tottenham until the end of the season. Midfielder Tamika Mkandawire is back in training after a knee injury but will not figure yet while skipper Paul Robinson remains sidelined with a groin problem. There will be a change on the bench after manager Kenny Jackett allowed striker Shaun Batt to join Leyton Orient on loan.

Hull will include Ahmed Elmohamady in their squad at Millwall following his return for a second spell on loan from Sunderland. The Egyptian wing-back, who will stay at the KC Stadium until the end of the season, could go straight into manager Steve Bruce's starting line-up. The Tigers have also completed the double loan signing of Egypt internationals Mohamed Nagy and Ahmed Fathi from Al-Ahly until the end of the season, but they will not team up with Bruce's squad until next week. Goalkeepers David Stockdale and Mark Oxley will both return to contention after they were ineligible for last week's FA Cup defeat to Barnsley, so Bruce must decide whether to retain Eldin Jakupovic. The Tigers have no new injury or suspension problems, but leading goalscorer Sone Aluko (Achilles) is still out, while Matty Fryatt (Achilles) and defender Joe Dudgeon (knee) remain long-term absentees.

Forward Lee Tomlin and centre-half Gaby Zakuani come back into contention. Tomlin has finally served the three-match suspension he incurred for the red card he received during the defeat at fellow strugglers Bristol City on December 29 while Zakuani has returned from South Africa following DR Congo's elimination from the African Cup of Nations. Boss Darren Ferguson, whose side were last in action a fortnight ago when they drew 1-1 with Hull at London Road, will also be able to call on new signings Jack Payne and Alex Pritchard. Both are young midfielders, with Payne arriving on loan from Gillingham and Pritchard on loan from Tottenham. George Boyd is still at the club after his switch to Nottingham Forest controversially broke down.

Burnley could welcome back top scorer Charlie Austin. Austin has not featured for the Clarets since sustaining a hamstring injury during their 1-0 defeat to Leicester on December 29 - perhaps a fortuitous development in light of the reported transfer interest in the 23-goal striker. Fellow hamstring victim Michael Duff is also back in training but the centre-back remains a doubt. Boss Sean Dyche has Dean Marney at his disposal after Burnley successfully appealed the midfielder's red card during last weekend's 2-1 home loss to Birmingham. Defender Ben Mee remains on the sidelines following a minor setback in his recovery from medial knee ligament damage. Dyche's men lie five points shy of the play-off places in eighth having won four of their last six league matches.

Jeremy Helan could go straight back into Sheffield Wednesday's starting line-up. The French midfielder recently went back to parent club Manchester City at the end of his initial loan spell, but has returned to Hillsborough until May. But manager Dave Jones, who has several selection dilemmas, could opt to start with Helan on the substitutes' bench following the display last week of Danny Pugh, who recently arrived on loan from Leeds. Another recent loan signing, Swansea striker Leroy Lita, could also force his way into Jones' starting line-up. He scored the winner after stepping off the bench on his Owls debut at Charlton. Jones, who has no new injury or suspension worries, must decide whether to stick with Jermaine Johnson and Michail Antonio up front or hand Lita his full debut. Wednesday, four points clear of the bottom three, are chasing their first home win in four matches.

Matthew Upson could make his Brighton debut after his deadline-day switch from Stoke. Boss Gus Poyet snapped up the former England defender as Seagulls skipper Gordon Greer faces a spell out with a hamstring injury suffered during last weekend's 3-2 FA Cup defeat by Arsenal. Right-back Bruno could finally be fit following a month on the sidelines with an Achilles problem, while winger Will Buckley is expected to be available despite coming off against Arsenal after feeling a twinge in his hamstring. Tomasz Kuszczak returns in goal after Casper Ankergren got another run-out in the cup. Striker Stephen Dobbie has joined Crystal Palace on loan while defender Romain Vincelot and youngster Matt McGiveron have been released.

Watford boss Gianfranco Zola is expected to rotate his side. The Italian manager made six changes in midweek as the Hornets failed to score for the first time in 14 games and were beaten 2-0 by Bristol City. Zola is expected to recall 30-goal strike duo Matej Vydra and Troy Deeney, who were restricted to just half-an-hour at Ashton Gate. Nat Chalobah, Marco Cassetti, Lloyd Doyley and Christian Battocchio are also pushing for returns to the line-up. Midfielder Ikechi Anya (hamstring) and defender Neuton (back) will be assessed ahead of kick-off as they make their way back from injury. Tommie Hoban is also closing in on a return from his Achilles injury, but Saturday is likely to come too soon for the defender.

Craig Dawson is in line to make his Bolton debut when Dougie Freedman's men travel to high-flying Watford. Dawson joined Wanderers on loan from West Brom last week but was cup-tied for the 2-1 defeat by Everton. The England Under-21 international will contest a place at the heart of defence with Zat Knight and Tim Ream but the match may come too soon for midfielder Medo Kamara, who joined on transfer deadline day from Partizan Belgrade. Keith Andrews remains sidelined with thigh and Achilles problems but Bolton have no new injury worries. Stuart Holden and David Wheater will continue their rehabilitation from lengthy knee injury absences by turning out for Wanderers' under-21 side against Manchester City on Friday night.
