Bayern Munich became the first German side to win the Club World Cup after a 2-0 win over Raja Casablanca in Marrakesh.
Goals from Dante and Thiago gave the Bundesliga, Champions League and German Cup winners a fourth major trophy of 2013 - fifth if you include the one-off European Super Cup - against the Moroccan hosts, who were invited to participate as defending champions of the host country.
Pep Guardiola’s side were huge favourites to beat Raja, who stunned Atletico Mineiro of Brazil in the semi-finals.
The Germans did not disappoint, dominating possession despite playing well within themselves, although they made several errors which should have been punished.
Defender Dante opened the scoring when he was played onside following a corner, the Brazilian given the freedom of the box to thrash the ball into the roof of the net.
Spain midfielder Thiago then doubled the advantage with a rasping finish after good play from David Alaba.
Despite seeing far less of the ball Raja did occasionally threaten, with Chemseddine Chtibi lobbing inches wide after Manuel Neuer went walkabout while, in an improved second-half showing, the unmarked Mouhssine Iajour headed straight at the Germany keeper.
Their best chance came after another Bayern defensive mix-up, which saw Vianney Madibe run through – his finish was well-saved by Neuer, before skipper Mouhssine Moutaouali somehow blasted the rebound over.
In the closing stages there was another chance, with Badr Kachani this time showing a lack of composure by finishing straight at Neuer.
But Raja could not find a way through and, with Xherdan Shaqiri firing against the bar from close range and Thomas Mueller also going close, Bayern were still worth the win which makes Guardiola a three-times winner of this title.
