David Beckham: Zinedine Zidane too upset to play in charity match

David Beckham has described the attacks on Paris as "terribly devastating to see" as he explained why his former Real Madrid team-mate Zinedine Zidane withdrew from a charity match at Old Trafford.

Beckham is probably best remembered for representing Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy, but he turned out on loan for Milan before finishing his career in Paris with Paris Saint-Germain two years ago.
Beckham sympathised with Zidane, who has been struggling to cope with the harrowing images from Paris.

There was slight concern once the news hit last night. It's terribly devastating to see.
"I understood why Zizou took the decision not to play. He was very respectful to me, but I totally understood.
"He's a friend and also a very passionate man. It hit him very hard. Everyone, the managers, players and everyone involved sends their condolences.
"Our hearts go out to everyone in Paris."
