Italy head coach Roberto Donadoni has blasted Franceso Totti and Alessandro Nesta for quitting international football.
Roma forward Totti and Milan defender Nesta, who were both part of the squad that won the 2006 World Cup, earned 136 caps between them for the Azzurri, but they both announced their retirement from the international scene last July.
They both cited the need to stay fit for the benefit of their club careers, although Nesta initially asked to be left out of the squad to face the Faroe Islands and Lithuania in June 2007 because he had just got married, and never returned to play for his country.
Sky television quoted Donadoni as telling a group of school children: "Totti and Nesta are like two children who have stomach ache to skip an exam."
