Jordan Henderson will be fit for England's Euro 2016 campaign, but Danny Welbeck is set to miss out, according to media reports.
Henderson has a chance of being part of Liverpool's squad for their Europa League final with Sevilla next Wednesday, but the outlook is not so bright for Arsenal forward Welbeck, who damaged his knee in the 2-2 draw at Manchester City on Sunday.
Ahead of Roy Hodgson's squad announcement on Thursday it was feared that the knee injury Henderson suffered - damage to a lateral collateral ligament - against Borussia Dortmund on April 7 would end his hopes of appearing at the finals, but he is apparently able to run freely after scans showed there was no lasting damage.
The midfielder Henderson stopped using crutches last week and has started running work. Welbeck is awaiting results of second examination to confirm the news he has been dreading over his prospects of appearing for England in France.
A cartilage strain would rule Welbeck out for six weeks, but a tear would leave him fighting to be fit for the start of next season.
According to reports, Welbeck's absence could open the door for Arsenal forward Theo Walcott or Marcus Rashford of Manchester United to make a push for the England squad.
Hodgson will name his final 23-man squad for the tournament on May 31.
