Euro 2020 draw as it happened - England set for World Cup rematch

England were given the chance to avenge their World Cup defeat to Croatia at Euro 2020 after being drawn with them in the group stages.

17:50 - A chance for Wales?
We know where Ryan Giggs' men will go and it's Group A with Italy, Switzerland and Turkey. Of course the Italians will be strong but otherwise they very much could get themselves into the knockout stages from there.
England's group is complete now too - they all are - and they have got the winner of the playoff between Scotland/Israel/Norway/Serbia.
17:45 - The opening game is set
Turkey will contest the first game of the tournament, taking on Italy in the Stadio Olimpico. The Czech Republic have joined England's group, which looks like a very decent draw for Gareth Southgate's side, who battered them 5-0 at Wembley.
I think it's clear what the 'Group of Death' is - Group F now has Portugal in with Germany and France. That is a belter.
The pot that includes Wales is up next.
17:40 - World Cup revenge?
Okay, we are starting to learn some new information. Switzerland have joined Italy in Group A, while Netherlands are in Group C with Ukraine.
England meanwhile have got Croatia - so they will re-run their World Cup semi-final - and France are in the same group as Germany, and they will meet on the opening day. Tasty. Pot Two is next.
17:35 - England!
So we've got our first sighting of England - although it just means that we know that they have the first position in Group D - which we already knew...

17:30 - So nearly there
I'll tell you what folks, we might be about to see some actually drawing here. Marcel Desailly, Ruud Gullit, Iker Casillas and Philipp Lahm are among the 11 (yes, eleven) people required to open the balls.
17:15 - Still no balls
Martin Garrix is on stage, getting interviewed. He is the official musician of Euro 2020, apparently.
He is followed by Ricardo Carvalho and Joao Mario, carrying the trophy which their country will defend of course.
17:00 - We're underway
Spoiler alert: we might not get any results soon. There is quite a lot of interpretive dance going on, with a visual representation of each host city (there are about 350 of them, of course).
16:55 - The draw, almost
So the wait is almost over. Quick update from the Premier League, where Liverpool have gone 11 (ELEVEN) points clear of the chasing pack, although Leicester can make that eight again with a win tomorrow.
Elsewhere, Crystal Palace have beaten Burnley 2-0 away from home, Chelsea have lost 1-0 at home to West Ham and Spurs have completed a 3-2 win over Bournemouth.
Never mind all that - it's time for some balls in bowls!
16:30 - Mourinho magic
Just half an hour to go until the draw starts (who knows when the first team will come out...) but in the Premier League, the Tottenham revival is going well. Spurs have a 3-1 lead over Bournemouth at home with Dele Alli, who will be looking to win his place back in the England team, scoring twice.
15:45 - Van Dijk double
Virgil van Dijk will no doubt be hoping to avoid the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold in the Euro 2020 draw.
But for now, they are the best of friends because the Englishman has two assists, and the Dutchman has scored two headers! First from a free-kick, and then from a corner, the centre-back has scored two thumping goals to give Liverpool a comfortable lead at half-time. Tottenham are leading as well.
14:20 - What a strike in the title race!
I know we are counting down to the Euro draw and we should be talking England, but I cannot ignore what Jonjo Shelvey has just done. Kevin De Bruyne's brilliant strike looked to have given Man City a crucial win to briefly close the gap to Liverpool to nine points - only for Shelvey to smash one in from outside the box. That means it's 2-2 at St James Park and City have slipped up again.
The Reds kick off against Brighton at 3pm.
14:00 - Roberto dropped
West Ham fans will like this news, because they have benched their goalkeeper Roberto after a series of high-profile gaffes. He is replaced by David Martin, whose father Alvin is a Hammers legend. Quite the rise, given that he signed from Millwall on a free transfer this summer.
Elsewhere, Olivier Giroud makes his first start since mid-August, replacing the injured Tammy Abraham at Chelsea.
13:10 - De Gea thinks United lack quality
David De Gea, Manchester United's goalkeeper, has criticised his side for their lack of quality after a difficult season.
De Gea told Sky Sports: "I don't think it's through any lack of effort, the boys are leaving everything out on the field in training and games.
"You could point maybe to a lack of quality in certain areas, but certainly not a lack of fight."
"We need to win four or five games in a row to be at the top, but at the moment the team is not playing so well," De Gea added.
"We're giving it everything, we're trying to get those big wins that can put us high up in the table. But the truth is at the moment we're not consistent enough, there's much to train and much to improve."
12:30 - Newcastle v City LIVE
There's early action in the Premier League as Newcastle United taken on Manchester City.
11:20 - Pep open to staying
Asked about staying beyond his current deal, Guardiola was quoted by the BBC as saying: "I'm open (to the idea), yes. It is not about what the club wants or not. For me, I want to see my players and the reaction of my players and everything.
"It is not as simple as I want to extend. I want to see the club, I want to see the players, I want to see how we are still working together.
"That is the most important thing after five years together. You have to feel like we can do it together and enjoy to work together."
The BBC said no talks had yet been held with City but Guardiola added: "I'm so comfortable working with this club.
"When you are (somewhere for) five years it depends on the results. We will see what happens this season and next season."
