FULL TIME: Croatia 3-1 Scotland
Croatia started this tournament poorly, but this has been their best display so far. Much more like the team that made a run all the way to the final of the 2018 World Cup.
The moment that truly sealed it!
Well, it's been an admirable effort by Scotland, but they have come up short. In the end, they just didn't have the quality to really control this game. What a loss Gilmour was.
There will be four minutes of stoppage time played at the end of the match.
PICTURE: A big night for Croatia!
- OffIvan PerišicCroatia
- OnAnte RebicCroatia
It should be noted that Rebic is also on for Croatia as they see this out.
- OffStephen O'DonnellScotland
- OnNathan PattersonScotland
And here's Patterson as well for Scotland. He has a bright future!
- OffChé AdamsScotland
- OnKevin NisbetScotland
A change for Scotland and Nisbet is on for Adams. Can he give the hosts a lifeline?
The omens were actually surprisingly positive for Scotland this evening - the country has never lost to Croatia in five meetings against them. On course for a loss here, though.
The danger for Scotland is that this could now get ugly. They are leaving a lot of space in behind and that's exactly what Croatia want with the likes of Perisic. Lightning quick.
The third Croatia goal!
Adams is denied! Fraser's shot is deflected into the path of the Scotland striker, but Adams couldn't squeeze his finish past Livakovic who stood up tall to make the solid save!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Croatia 3 (78 mins - Ivan Perisic) Scotland 1. And that should be that for Croatia who will almost certainly be in the last 16! Modric's ball to the near post was a good one and Perisic got ahead of his man to flick in off the back post! Surely there's no way back for Scotland now?
Clarke has asked a lot of McGregor tonight. The Celtic midfielder was impressive in the game against England last Friday, and has scored here, but Scotland needed more.
- OffNikola VlašicCroatia
- OnLuka IvanušecCroatia
Another Croatian change and Vlasic comes off to boos. He's taking his time walking off.
Fraser shoots! The Newcastle United winger gets involved for the first time since coming off the bench, but his effort flies high and wide of the target. Never troubling the goalkeeper.
Scotland have players who can control play in the centre of the pitch, but nobody quite as good as Gilmour at doing it. The absence of the Chelsea youngster has been a big blow to them.
- OffJoško GvardiolCroatia
- OnBorna BarišicCroatia
And here's Rangers full back Barisic for Croatia - someone Scottish fans know well!
PICTURE: Croatia have a 2-1 lead!
- OffBruno PetkovicCroatia
- OnAndrej KramaricCroatia
Kramaric is also on for Croatia as Dalic shuffles the pack as we enter the 70th minute.
- OffStuart ArmstrongScotland
- OnRyan FraserScotland
A change for Scotland and it's Fraser who comes on for the final 20 minutes.
McGregor... over the target! The Armstrong freekick delivery was punched clear, but only to the edge of the box. McGregor controls, but this time his shot is wild and over the bar.
Modric has played within himself at this tournament so far. Until tonight. The midfielder had an excellent season at club level for Real Madrid. Now we’re seeing signs of that form.
How will Scotland respond? They equalised once before. Can they do it again? 25 minutes to play and Croatia are the team on top of things at the moment. In control.
- GoalLuka ModricCroatia
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Croatia 2 (62 mins - Luka Modric) Scotland 1. Magnificent finish! That could be the goal that puts Croatia into the last 16! They were patient on the edge of the penalty box, Modric was afforded too much time and space and he finished into the back of the net with the outside of his boot!
MCGINN... what a chance! Was that the moment for Scotland? The cross from the left side was a deep one, McGinn had the run on Gvardiol, but the midfielder flicks wide of the post!
Robertson has faced some criticism for his performances for Scotland over the years, but the Liverpool left back has really turned up for his country at this tournament so far.
PICTURE: Vlasic opened the scoring
Scotland missed Tierney in their opening game defeat to Czech Republic. The Arsenal man is playing on the left side of the back three, but provides a lot of forward thrust from the back.
The Gvardiol chance!
Perisic was through! The Croatia winger was in behind the Scotland defence, Marshall saves with his face from close range, but the flag is eventually raised for a tight offside!
This is another lull in the match for Scotland. They are really struggling to get their foot on the ball in the centre of the pitch without Gilmour in there to calm things down.
Gvardiol is back on his feet after receiving some treatment and will be fine to continue here. He was brave in going in with Marshall for the loose ball on the slide.
Gvardiol was through! Armstrong lost track of the Croatian runner who was played in behind by Perisic, but Marshall came out to smother the shot. Gvardiol has taken a knock here.
PICTURE: McGregor equalised!
Defeat to Czech Republic in their opening Group D match got Scotland off to a poor start at Euro 2020, but they showed what they are capable of by holding England at Wembley. And they have hit back here!
'Flower of Scotland' rings around Hampden. There's no doubt these Scotland supporters believe their team can do what is required to make the last 16 of these Euros!
This was the Scotland equaliser!
That McGregor goal right at the end of the first half has given Scotland a real shot in the arm. However, it must be said that they will need to be better in this second period.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way! It's 1-1 between Croatia and Scotland in this Euro 2020 Group D fixture!
HALF TIME: Croatia 1-1 Scotland. A highly engaging first half of football at the national stadium in Glasgow. What a massive moment McGregor's goal could be.
Scotland have the momentum behind them now. The pace of their play, the noise around Hampden... it's all been turned up to 11! Half time whistle coming, though.
There will be two minutes of stoppage time played at the end of the first half!
The touch from McGregor to set himself up for the strike on the edge of the box was wonderful. It opened up the angle for him and the shot into the back of the net was good too!
That could be a huge moment for Scotland! They are back on level terms and the atmosphere inside Hampden is electric! Not sure they deserved that, but they do not care!
- GoalCallum McGregorScotland
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Croatia 1 Scotland 1 (42 mins - Callum McGregor). An equaliser! What a moment and Scotland are well and truly back in this game! The cross came in from the right side, Adams did just enough to control it and set it back to McGregor and the Celtic midfielder fires into the back of the Croatian net!
Perisic... that's a bit wild! Vlasic finds the Inter winger with some space down the left side, he cuts inside on to his right foot, but the effort flashes high and wide of the target.
ENGLAND GOAL! Update from the other game being played in Group D right now and Raheem Sterling has given England a 1-0 lead against Czech Republic.
Adams was impressive against England at Wembley last week, but the Southampton striker must show more composure in front of goal this evening. He has been a bit erratic again here.
- Yellow cardScott McKennaScotland
Well, that didn't take long. McKenna takes down Petkovic and his first involvement sees him receive a yellow card.,
- OffGrant HanleyScotland
- OnScott McKennaScotland
Clarke is forced into a change with Hanley unable to continue due to injury. McKenna comes on for Scotland.
Going well for Croatia so far!
Scotland have yet to actually score a goal at Euro 2020. That will have to change this evening if they are to stand any realistic chance of qualifying for the last 16.
One of Croatia’s biggest problems so far is that they lack any real cutting edge in attack. Mandzukic has retired since the 2018 World Cup and Rebic has had a poor tournament so far.
PICTURE: Adams has been unlucky
There's a break in play at the moment as Vlasic receives treatment. The Croatian midfielder clashed heads with McTominay as the two players challenged for the same ball.
Croatia, like Scotland, have just one point from their first two Group D fixtures at Euro 2020 with the 2018 World Cup finalists so far underwhelming at the tournament. Can they make amends? This has been better.
- Yellow cardDejan LovrenCroatia
First booking of the match and it's for Lovren who cleaned out Adams.
The Croatia goal...
McGinn on target! The ball is recycled by Scotland with Dykes prodding it out to McGinn 16 yards out, but the Aston Villa midfielder couldn't quite get it out of his feet and the shot is saved!
Big chance for Scotland! A good passing move results in Armstrong playing a wonderful pass to McGinn at the back post, but his header back across couldn't quite find Adams!
PICTURE: Advantage, Croatia
MODRIC... tipped over the bar! The Croatian midfielder ran on to a pass and unleashed a strike towards goal. Marshall tips it over, but the officials don't see it. Goal kick is awarded.
Defensively, Clarke won't be happy with the way Croatia were able to score that goal. Perisic should have been challenged in the air. It was too easy for him to knock it down.
- GoalNikola VlašicCroatia
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Croatia 1 (18 mins - Nikola Vlasic) Scotland 0. The breakthrough and it's gone the way of Croatia! The cross was played to the back post, Perisic got above O'Donnell to knock down and Vlasic was on hand to control and angle a low strike into the back of the net! Bad news for Scotland!
Sharp off his line! Just for a moment there, it seemed that Vlasic was in behind the Scotland defence, but Marshall was very quickly off his line and made the crucial clearance.
Armstrong is in for Gilmour this evening. While the Southampton midfielder tends to play in a more advanced role, he does have some experience of operating in deep for Celtic.
Gilmour was the Man of the Match against England, catching the eye in his role in the centre of the pitch. It’s a huge blow that Scotland won’t have his influence for this match tonight.
However, Scotland were dealt a big blow yesterday when it emerged that Gilmour had tested positive for Covid-19 meaning that he is ruled out of this match and a potential last 16 tie.
Against England, Scotland did a good job of keeping things tight and organised at the back while controlling the ball in the centre of the pitch. They more than earned their point.
Ball into the middle! Good build up play from Scotland sees the pass sprayed out to O'Donnell, but his cross into the box is too close to Livakovic in the Croatia goal. Opportunity.
For the first time in the match, there's a sense that Croatia are starting to control things in the centre of the pitch with Scotland looking to make the most of their counter attack.
What an incredible atmosphere at Hampden. You would never know that there's only 12,000 fans inside the stadium for this one, the level of noise that's coming from the stands!
Adams from distance...wide! Space opened up for the Scotland striker 20 yards out, he gets the shot away, but it flashes wide. Adams wants a corner for a deflection and he's right about that.
Scotland come into this game on the back of an impressive goalless draw against England at Wembley. Clarke’s team didn’t look out of their depth against one of the tournament favourites.
Chance for Adams! Oh what an opportunity for Scotland! McGinn cut inside and delivered a wonderful ball for Adams, but he couldn't make a connection and Livakovic saves.
Of course, this isn't the only game being played in Group D right now. England are up against Czech Republic at Wembley. We'll bring you updates as goals go in at that game too.
This has been a bright start by Scotland. Just as was the case against England at Wembley last Friday, they are making a real effort to impose themselves early doors.
What sort of match will we get this evening? Both these teams need a win to give themselves any realistic chance of qualifying for the last 16 of the tournament.
A good start by Scotland sees O'Donnell win a corner kick straight away! Robertson's delivery is punched away, but that's what the home side would have wanted - very positive!
- 1st Half

The task might not be a simple one, but it's a clear one - win and you're into the last 16 of Euro 2020!
Anthem time - sorry, Croatia. Scotland win this one! 12,000 hearty Scots singing along for good measure!
The players are out at Hampden Park. What an atmosphere at this famous old venue! You would never know that there's only 12,000 supporters inside due to Covid-19 rules.
I'm Graham Ruthven and you can catch me on Twitter ahead of the match to let me know your thoughts. Can Scotland get the win they need to make the last 16? Or will Croatia spoil the party? Tweet me - @grahamruthven!
Brozovic is back! After being dropped for the 1-1 draw against Czech Republic, Inter midfielder Brozovic has returned to the Croatia XI for this game. Can he make the difference?
Armstrong in for Gilmour! Only one change made to the Scotland team from the side that drew at Wembley and it's an enforced one with Gilmour dropping out after testing positive for Covid-19. Straight swap - Armstrong in.
TEAM NEWS: Scotland - Marshall; O'Donnell, Hanley, Tierney; Armstrong, McTominay, McGregor, McGinn, Robertson; Dykes, Adams. /// Croatia - Livakovic; Juranovic, Lovren, Vida, Gvardiol; Modric, Brozovic, Kovacic; Vlasic, Perisic; Petkovic.
