There's been a goal in Baku, and it's a big one for Wales - Turkey have pulled one back, and trail Switzerland 2-1.
61'
James wins a free kick for Wales in the bottom right corner. He takes the kick, but it's headed clear by Italy.
60'
A change for Wales as Morrell is replaced by Kieffer Moore. A positive change from Page, and an out ball for his depleted team.
58'
Chiesa cuts in from the right, but hits a feeble pearoller with his left straight into the hands of Ward. The stadium is a little stunned here; Wales have switched to a flat back four now, with Gunter and Williams as orthodox full-backs.
55'
RED CARD! Ampadu catches Bernadeschi as he misses the ball in a fifty-fifty, and it's a straight red! It's VAR checked, but it's going to stand; he missed the ball and came down hard with his studs on Bernadeschi's ankle. Was that high enough and reckless enough to justify a red? I'm not so sure, but Wales are down to ten men.

OH WHAT A CHANCE FOR WALES! A long ball into the Italian area bounces past Bastoni and Ramsey is in on the right. He dithers, and it costs him; he doesn't shoot, looks for support that isn't there and then loses the ball as he tries to adjust his feet.
53'
OFF THE POST! Bernadeschi takes it, low and whipped right around the wall; Ward is beaten, but the ball clips the outside of the post and drifts behind for a goal kick.
51'
Allen brings down Belotti 25 yards from goal. It's a free kick in a good position, and a yellow card.

Bale has been very quiet today, and tries to get going here with a run into the Italian half. He finds Williams out on the left, who crosses to no one in particular, and Italy clear.

Bastoni crashes through the back of Bale near halfway; free kick to Wales.
2nd Half
2ND HALF
We're underway again in Rome. It's slightly more precarious for Wales now than at kick off; another goal for the Italians and a third for the Swiss in Baku would see the Welsh slip to third in the group, and waiting on other results to see if they progress.

A change for Italy at the half, as Francesco Acerbi replaces Bonucci.

Here's that goal from Pessina.

There's no added time, the half abruptly ends bang on 45 minutes.

SO CLOSE! Verratti is running this. He clips a lovely pass into the area from out on the left, and Pessina breaks from nowhere to glance the ball just wide of the far post.
As things stand Wales and Switzerland are level on four points each, with Wales in second due to their superior goal difference: +1 plays -1.

Italy are almost in again with a looping cross to the back post, but Wales clear.

GOAL! Italy 1 (Pessina 39) Wales 0
Italy area ahead! From a free kick near the right corner of the Welsh area, Verratti whips a low ball into the penalty area. Pessina gets across the defence, applying a glancing touch to the cross that diverts it low past Ward and into the far corner.

Verratti almost undoes Wales with one chipped pass, right down the middle of the pitch. IT's slightly ahead of Belotti, who can't quite reach it on the stretch and Ward gathers.
34'
Wales get a free kick in the Italian half. James takes it, lumped to the back post, where Rodon climbs but can only head it down into the hands of Donnarruma.
31'
Emerson goes past Rodon and into the Welsh area on the right. As the ball runs away from him, Emerson hits the deck theatrically as Rodon tries to get back at him. There was nothing in that, and Emerson is lucky not to be carded for simulation.
29'
CHANCE! Bastoni crosses from the left for Italy. Williams misses it completely, and it lands in the lap of Chiesa at the back post. From a wide angle he smashes his shot back across goal, where it clips Ampadu and flies out for a corner.
