England and Ireland's Under-21s have been drawn to face each other in Group 3 of the qualifiers for Euro 2009. The selection took place in Sweden and Portugal, Bulgaria and Montenegro also play in the group.
It was the first time newly independent nation Montenegro featured in a draw.
The group will be followed by a play-off to determine the seven teams that will join hosts Sweden in the finals.
Reigning champions Holland will face Switzerland, Norway, FYR Macedonia and Estonia in Group 5, Scotland face Denmark, Finland, Slovenia and Lithuania, Northern Ireland are drawn against Germany, Israel, Luxembourg and Moldova and Wales have France, Romania, Malta and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The draw was held in Stockholm.
