Europa League Group A, De Kuip – Feyenoord 1 (Vilhena 79) Manchester United 0
Manchester United put in an abject display as Feyenoord clinched a 1-0 victory in their Europa League opener.
Marcus Rashford had a frustrating night leading the line with Anthony Martial and Juan Mata disappointing alongside him, while Paul Pogba failed to provide attacking impetus from midfield. The front three of United were so poor that manager Jose Mourinho decided to take them all off at once, as he made a triple change with just over 20 minutes to go.
The impressive Tonny Vilhena, who is only just starting to really live up to his potential, netted the winner in the 79th minute to spark wild celebrations amongst the home fans, who created a fantastic atmosphere during the match.
The clubs are joined in Group A by Turkish side Fenerbahce and Ukrainian outfit Zorya Luhansk who played out a 1-1 draw in their opening game, meaning United are now bottom of the table.
TALKING POINT
Will the real Paul Pogba please stand up? There's no denying the fact that Paul Pogba is a fabulous footballer but he needs a big performance and he needs one fast. He was disappointing against Manchester City in the derby and even when Mourinho moved him further forward it didn't seem to change things.
Part of the problem was Pogba's varying position on the pitch, was he playing as No.10 or on the left of a midfield three? It really wasn't clear. It didn't help Pogba that Ander Herrera and Morgan Schneiderlin were being quite defensive, leaving him short on support when he pushed forward. However that doesn't excuse the world's most expensive footballer as this is exactly the sort of game he needs to be taking by the scruff of the neck and dominating. Pogba needs to step up soon and getting the best out of the Frenchman is the biggest priority for Jose Mourinho at the moment.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Tonny Vilhena (Feyenoord): The Feyenoord backline, including Brad Jones, were impressive and Dirk Kuyt rolled back the years superbly but Vilhena was the driving force of this team. He was the one who was hassling Pogba in possession and then got the team going when they broke. He used the ball really well and was the perfect complement to the experience and work-rate of Kuyt and the tough-tackling of Karim El Ahmadi. The crowning moment of the game was his goal as he arrived late in the box with the perfect timing and finished perfectly past David De Gea.

KEY MOMENTS
11' - SHOT!: We have our first shot and it's from Steven Berghuis, who is on loan from Watford as he looks to try and curl one on his left foot. It's easy for De Gea to catch though.
24' - UNITED CHANCE! Rashford links up well with Matteo Darmian down the right and the Italian gets his cross in. Martial's touch to set himself is good and his shot is just wide.
79 - GOAL! Feyenoord 1-0 United. HE OF THE BLONDE AFRO HAS SCORED! Once again substitute Bilal gets down Rojo's side and this time he passes, playing a lovely ball over the top to Jorgensen, who might be offside. The striker pulls the ball back across the box and Vilhena arrives late to calmly slot past De Gea. Well deserved goal.
90+2' - WONDERFUL SAVE: Ibrahimovic dismisses Memphis and takes the free-kick himself and he fires it low under the wall. Brad Jones reacts quick enough and crucially he holds it, with United players ready to pounce on a loose ball.
