Leverkusen win a deep free-kick down the left-hand side. Wirtz clips in the delivery into the danger area, but the ball is poor and Patricio has it in his grasp. We will have three minutes of additional time at the end of this first half.

You'd be hoping that the game would open up sooner rather than later. Both sides look tentative, and not many chances are being created at either end of the field.

Bakker has to come on in place of the injured Kossounou, who is helped off the pitch by the Leverkusen medical staff.

The Leverkusen right centre-back pulls up and drops to the ground. It looks like his right hamstring, and he does seem to be in a bit of pain. The away side will most likely have to make a change.

Belotti is played in behind as he darts into the box down the right channel, and goes down following a challenge by Kossounou, but after a short VAR check, Roma don't have the penalty they crave.

If Michael Oliver gave anything there, it would've been extremely harsh on Leverkusen.

The Turkish wing-back for Roma is down on the turf after a nasty fall, which saw him land awkwardly on his left shoulder. After some initial discomfort, he looks OK to carry on.

Abraham is fouled and Roma have a free-kick from deep. It is clipped into the danger area by Spinazzola, and Ibanez finds a yard in the box and gets a great header on the ball, but it is brilliantly saved by Hradecky! Abraham cannot quite get to the rebound and the danger is gone. Closest Roma have come to finding the net in these opening 17 minutes.

Not much has happened in the last five minutes. Roma are trying to use their wing backs to advance forward a bit more, but their lack of fluidity on the ball is causing them some issues creatively.

The visitors have started the better, and look the more confident side on the ball. Roma have been limited to the rare long ball as they look to quickly find their two strikers up the field.

One of Mourinho's clear instructions for his side has been to press Leverkusen high when they try and play it out from the back.

What a move from the visitors! Hlozek plays in Wirtz with the give-and-go inside the box, and the latter goes for goal with a low strike, but it just flies past the post! Roma must be sweating because Leverkusen have created two good chances within the first seven minutes.
