Joao Pedro dedicates Europa League win to Brighton fans after last-gasp winner - 'Best moment of my life'

Joao Pedro has said he is living the "best moment of my life" after scoring the winning goal in Brighton's 1-0 victory over Marseille on Thursday.

The striker grabbed the winner in the 88th minute of the game which saw the Premier League side finish top of the group to progress into the last 16 of the Europa League.

Brighton had been the better team throughout the game but struggled to break down the French side before Joao Pedro finished off a lovely team move with a clinical strike into the top corner.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Joao Pedro said: "It's brilliant this moment for me. When I was young, I was dreaming of this moment to help the team, to play in one club like that.

"Because in all the games [the fans] they stay with us. It doesn't matter if we lost or we draw, they always stay with us. And today, I give this win to them.

"I'm very happy. I'm living the best moment of my life now and I'm just going to say thank you to my team-mates because they always support me.

"They say: 'Joao, believe! You're going to score!' and today I can score and we win."

Joao Pedro has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign with Brighton so far after joining them from Watford at the start of the season.

The 22-year-old has scored 11 goals in all competitions and he is the top goalscorer in the Europa League this season with six goals to his name.

"I'm very happy to be top scorer in the Europa League," he added. "I've been working for that, to be top of the table.

"It doesn't matter if it's in the league or top scorer, you need to keep going through hard work and you need to wait to see the next round."
