Under-pressure Louis van Gaal made two changes to his Manchester United side for the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.
Marouane Fellaini returned from suspension to take the place of the benched Jesse Lingard, while Marcos Rojo replaced Cameron Borthwick-Jackson for the Wembley showpiece.
Former United winger Wilfried Zaha started for Palace despite rumours to the contrary. Zaha appeared to be overcome by emotion during Palace's traditional pre-match walk on the pitch, but suggestions he had not proved his fitness after three games out were incorrect.
United boss Van Gaal went into the game - a rerun of the classic 1990 final - having woken up to yet more speculation over his future and reports again linking former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho with his job.
But the Dutchman showed no hint of concern as he waved to the crowd when boarding the team bus to travel to the stadium from the adjacent Wembley Hilton hotel.
