Roma have announced that former United States women's international Mia Hamm has joined the club's board of directors.
The 42-year-old who led the Americans to two World Cup titles before retiring from the game 10 years ago is among several newcomers to the board at the Stadio Olimpico.
Boston Bruins president Cam Neely has also been nominated to the new board, which is composed of 13 members that will each serve three-year terms.
A statement from Roma read: "The new board is a diverse and committed group of industry leaders from international investment, marketing and sports sectors.
"They will work with ownership and management toward the continued mission of making AS Roma one of the world's greatest football clubs, on and off the field."
The new appointments could potentially increase Roma's exposure in North America.
Hamm is arguably the world's most famous female football player while Canadian-born Neely was a long-time star in the NHL.
Roma president James Pallotta is delighted with the new board members.
Boston-born Pallotta said in a club statement: "I would like to thank the outgoing members for their service and I am excited to welcome our new Board of Directors.
"We have assembled a very talented group with each member adding unique skills and experience.
"I am confident this is among the best Boards in sports."
Roma, who trade in Milan's stock exchange, are currently second in Serie A.
The Giallorossi are three points behind league leaders Juventus heading into Wednesday's home meeting with Cesena.
