England react to Spain's late equaliser

Gareth Southgate’s men were so near and yet so far as they drew 2-2 with Spain in an international friendly at Wembley.
Two late strikes from the visitors meant that Southgate's side could claim only a draw - but also that he finishes his four-game run as caretaker manager with an unbeaten record.
Adam Lallana opened the scoring in the ninth minute, converting a penalty after Jamie Vardy was brought down by Pepe Reina.
And it was 2-0 shortly after the break, when a spectacular diving header by Vardy in the 48th minute saw him nod the ball into the back of the net to end his 14-game goal drought.
Just as it looked as if the hosts would keep a clean sheet, Iago Aspas claimed a last-ditch goal in the 89th minute - the first England had conceded under Southgate.
A nervous five minutes of injury time played out, with a near miss on both sides, before Isco added to Spain's haul in the dying moments of the game to level things up.

TALKING POINT

Has Gareth Southgate done enough to get the England job permanently?
Probably, to be honest. Going unbeaten over four games after a dismal summer is not to be sniffed at. Having said that, who else is genuinely in line for it? Perhaps the most pertinent question should be whether or not Southgate is going to accept it... and whether he really should.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Jamie Vardy (England): Won the penalty for the first goal, scored the second, pretended to be a mannequin.
