Morecambe manager Jim Bentley has vowed never to resign from the club despite overseeing a humiliating 7-0 defeat to Cambridge this week.
Bentley has been at the the helm for five years and is in the middle of his most difficult spell as boss, with the Shrimps having registered only four Sky Bet League Two wins this calendar year.
With some fans calling for him to leave, especially in the wake of Tuesday's chastening result in Cambridge, Bentley remains confident he is the right man for the top job at the Globe Arena.
Bentley told the Lancaster Guardian: "I'll never, ever walk away. I love the club and I love my job.
"It has been a difficult season for one reason or another. A lot of it is common knowledge but a lot of it isn't.
"Football management is a mad job. Every fan who sits in the stand on Saturday thinks they've got the magic answer or the magic formula or they know best and the manager hasn't got a clue.
"I've got 100 per cent belief in my own ability. I think I've done well over the time that I've been here."
