Klopp pays tribute to Hillsborough families for fighting for truth

Speaking ahead of the Europa League semi-final first-leg against Villarreal, the German said: “It was a very big moment for all the families and I am really happy for them. Finally, they got the justice they wanted.

“Twenty-seven years is an unbelievably long time. It shows all of us if you are ready to fight for truth and patient enough to wait then it can happen.”

The 96 Liverpool fans who died in Britain's worst-ever sporting disaster, the 1989 Hillsborough football stadium crush, were unlawfully killed, with police failures to blame, a jury hearing inquests into the death concluded on Tuesday.

The verdict absolved Liverpool fans of any role in causing the crush.
