Samuel out for Liga start

Club medical staff estimated the 26-year-old Argentine international, who sustained the injury to his right knee towards the end of Real's 3-1 win over the Polish side on Wednesday, would be out of action for two to three weeks.

Samuel, who joined Real for 25 million euros from AS Roma in May, was set to make his league debut in his side's opening match of the season at Real Mallorca.

With new signing Jonathan Woodgate also out injured, Ivan Helguera is likely to have to drop back from midfield to join Francisco Pavon in the back four, while Guti should partner David Beckham in midfield.
