Racing Santander have opened disciplinary proceedings against brothers Stephane and Wilfried Dalmat for arriving four days late for training after the Christmas break, the club said on Tuesday.
"They should have returned last Thursday, but they hadn't shown any signs of life and we had not heard anything from them until yesterday," club president Manuel Huerta was quoted as saying by Marca.com on Tuesday.
The two midfielders joined Racing at the start of the season, Stephane agreeing a five-year deal and Wilfried signing until the end of the present campaign.
Huerta said he was particularly upset with former Inter Milan player Stephane who had failed to live up to expectations.
"He has got great class and tremendous quality and I think he could be one of the stars of the league, but I don't know what is the matter with him.
"We don't want players who aren't happy at Racing and who only show their class occasionally. We can't afford that sort of luxury."
Racing are in 13th place in the Primera Liga, four points above the relegation zone.
