Varane signs new long-term deal at Real Madrid

The Frenchman, who Jose Mourinho exclusively told Eurosport Yahoo! in March was "the world’s best young centre-back," has been a big hit at the Bernabeu since signing from Lens for a fee of around €10m in the summer of 2011.

Despite still being only 21, Varane has established himself as a first-team star for both club and country.

He started four matches for France at the World Cup and was nominated for the young player of the tournament award.

He also started last season's Champions League final, where Real Madrid beat city rivals Atletico 4-1 to end a 12 year wait for their 10th success in the competition.
