Marseille, Paris St Germain and Nancy booked their places in the last 16 of the French League Cup with victories on Wednesday night.
l'OM won 2-1 at Montpellier thanks to goals from Habib Bamogo and Toifilou Maoulida.
Bamogo struck after 11 minutes when Mickaël Pagis served a perfect cross from the left to the striker who opened his foot to beat keeper Geoffrey Jourdren.
And 12 minutes later, Jourden parried Wilson Oruma's shot into the path of Maoulida who made no mistake.
Victor Hugo Montano pulled one back for the hosts midway through the second-half but it was not enough.
PSG trailed to a first-half goal from Rachmane Barry but they responded to beat Lorient 3-1 at the Parc des Princes.
Pauleta scored twice in the space of three minutes, firstly when Bonaventure Kalou's pass found the Portuguese international who rounded keeper Fabien Audard and shot into the net.
He added his second on 61 after great work by Cristian Rodriguez and he had a helping hand in the third as he teed up Fabrice Pancrate.
Defending champions Nancy beat Ligue 1 strugglers Nice 1-0 at Stade Marcel Picot.
The only goal came after 25 minutes when Kim's header found Gaston Curbelo who cleverly beat Nice keeper Damien Gregorini.
Elsewhere, two all-Ligue 1 games went the way of form with Le Mans and Sochaux winning at Troyes and Sedan respectively although struggling Monaco won 5-4 on penalties at Valenciennes following a goalless draw.
Auxerre, St Etienne, Rennes and Lens beat lower league opposition.
