121'

Sarri looks like he is about to storm off down the tunnel, but then has a change of heart and returns to the touchline. Have you ever witnessed anything like this?

120'

The manager has been overruled by his player - Kepa is staying on! And Sarri is livid! He is throwing water bottles and all sorts.

119'

EXTRAORDINARY SCENES! Sarri has instructed Caballero to replace Kepa, who is clearly struggling, but the Chelsea goalkeeper is REFUSING to come off!

118'

Kepa is really struggling with his hamstring and he's going to be replaced by Caballero, the hero of City's League Cup win of 2014.

117'

SHOT AND SAVE! Rudiger slips and allows Sane free. He feeds Aguero who has a crack from 25 yards but Kepa gets down to make the stop.

116'

Imagine...

115'

Into the last five minutes and penalties look inevitable.

112'

Kepa, who was a doubt coming into this game, seems like he's going to be fit to continue.

110'

Willy Caballero is warming up as Kepa is struggling. Could Chelsea be forced into a change in goal?

109'

CITY CHANCE! Sterling the architect. He easily goes past Emerson on the flank, cuts it back into the danger area, Aguero's toe-poked effort is blocked and Chelsea manage to scramble clear.

107'

Bernardo releases Zinchenko who forces a City corner, but Gundogan's delivery goes over the head of everyone. Chelsea have a goal-kick.

It's half-time in extra-time and it remains goalless.

104'

'Champions of Europe, you'll never sing that' chant the Chelsea fans now.

103'

'We've won it all', sing the Chelsea supporters. Will they have another League Cup success to celebrate by the end of play?

102'

Chelsea look the fresher of the two sides now.

100'

Hudson-Odoi links up with Higuain to tee up Jorginho for a shot but his ambitious shot is never troubling Ederson.

98'

Hazard hits a volleyed cross into the danger area but Ederson is off his line quickly to smother the ball before it can reach Higuain.

97'

With Hazard, Higuain and Hudson-Odoi in attack, this is a Chelsea side with a menacing look about it. Will Sarri's bravery be rewarded?

96'

Higuain spearheads the attack, with Hazard moving to the left of the front-three. Certainly nothing predictable about Sarri's switches today.

90'+4

Fernandinho has taken a knock which is a major concern for City.

90'+3

OFFSIDE! Loftus-Cheek releases Hazard through on goal, but the linesman raises his flag for offside when the Belgian looked level. Dubious decision.

Luiz's free-kick is dangerous... and Ederson is taking no chances and feels the need to tip it over. Chelsea corner to follow.

End-to-end stuff now at Wembley, as a game that promised so much is finally threatening to deliver.

77'

De Bruyne clips a ball over the top of the Chelsea defence but Aguero - who looks like he's in an offside position anyway - can't quite meet it.

75'

CHELSEA CORNER! Magical again from Hazard. The Belgian picks it up centrally, rides a couple of challenges and his beautifully-weighted pass releases Pedro. Instead of shooting, the Spaniard tries to cut it back and he can only force a corner.

73'

OVER! And De Bruyne curls the resulting free-kick over the bar.

70'

OVER! Barkley tries to bend one into the far corner but he gets his angles wrong. Chelsea are slowly growing into this contest; they are growing in confidence.

68'

The Belgian's pace and movement is causing City all kinds of problems, as Chelsea continue to threaten on the counter.

67'

Was that a wake-up call for City? Kompany was caught out badly there.

66'

CHELSEA CHANCE! Hazard gets behind the City defence once again. He goes past Kompany too easily and cuts the ball back to Kante on the edge of the box... but the Frenchman's shot rises agonisingly over the crossbar, The best chance of the game so far.

64'

City continue to dominate possession - but Pep's side haven't had things all of their own way since the restart.

62'

Chelsea are preparing an attacking change of some sort.

60'

57'

The decision is being reviewed by VAR... which concludes that Aguero was offside.

56'

GOAL CHALKED OFF! Aguero coolly slots home... but he is a couple of yards behind Rudiger and the lineman raises his flag for offside.

54'

Chelsea continue pose a threat on the counter-attack, that is for sure.

53'

GREAT DEFENDING! Hazard breaks away on the right, but Otamendi reads it well and makes a crucial challenge inside the box. In that situation, you would have fancied the Belgian to make the most of such an opportunity.

52'

Kompany, still trying to get up to speed with the game, sees his misplaced pass go out for a throw-in.

50'

De Bruyne delivers a cross from deep, searching for Aguero, but it's too close to Kepa... but wait, the Chelsea goalkeeper drops the ball! Fortunately, for him, he is able to smother it on the second attempt.

49'

Fernandinho fires one miles over the bar, and City have still only registered one shot on target.

48'

CLOSE! De Bruyne curls in an inviting cross but Aguero can't quite jump high enough to get on the end of it.

HALF-TIME

The sides go in level at 0-0 at the interval. Man City have dominated possession but Pep's side have lacked that final touch of quality in the final third to breach a resilient Chelsea defence.

45'+1

Chelsea finish the half on top. Willian arches in a cross and Otamendi almost puts it into his own net! Fortunately for City, it goes behind for a corner.

45'

Hazard latches onto Willian's pass, he's closed down quickly but the Belgian somehow dances his way through three or four challenges before he is eventually dispossessed.

One minute will be added at the end of the first-half.

44'

Back come City, though, as they force another corner. Luiz towers above everyone to head it clear. Zinchenko recovers it, though, and sends one to the back post where Otamendi slides a shot into the arms of Kepa.

41'

De Bruyne's free-kick is over everyone, but Sterling retrieves it on the opposite side. Otamendi lifts it back into the area, pinball ensues, but Chelsea manage to clear.

40'

De Bruyne is fouled by Willian and City have a chance to bring their big men forward to contest this free-kick, which will be taken close to the corner flag on the right.

38'

Sterling leaves Azpilicueta in his wake and stands up a cross into the box - Jorginho clears. It comes back to the England international who continues to probe and wins City a corner.

-
35'

It hasn't been a wonderful spectacle so far, let's be honest. But Sarri won't care one bit, as long as Chelsea remain in this game for as long as they possibly can. At times it looks like City are playing a League One side, such is their dominance.

34'

If Sarri's gameplan was to disrupt the flow of City's rhythm and usual free-flowing football, then the Italian will be pleased to note that his team have done exactly that so far.

32'
31'

It's a poor delivery from Bernardo and his free-kick is too close to the goalkeeper. Catching practice for Kepa.

  • David Luiz

28'

SAVE! De Bruyne lines Aguero up for a shot from 25 yards, it takes a deflection and Kepa gets down to make a comfortable stop.

27'

Hazard makes a clever run in behind the City defence but he can't quite reach an ambitious ball over the top. Ederson is off his line quickly to smother.

26'

It's deep from Willian who finds Pedro at the back post. He heads it back into the danger area but straight to a City player who clears.

25'

Chelsea finally break out of their own half and Pedro wins a free-kick on the right channel. Willian prepares to whip it in...

23'

That was City's first sight at goal and Aguero, arguably, could have done better. He has 13 goals in 16 appearances against Chelsea.

22'

OVER! Bernardo Silva floats a glorious ball to the back post for Aguero. He takes it down on his chest and shoots with his second touch but he can't keep his volley down.

21'

Jorginho intercepts a pass from De Bruyne but the loose ball is retrieved by Bernardo Silva. He whips in a dangerous cross but Rudiger is well positioned to head clear.

20'
19'

There are so many bodies back there in defence for Chelsea, it is very difficult for City to find a way through.

18'

Chelsea have some defending to do as two quick-fire crosses are drilled into the penalty area, but there's no way through for City just yet.

17'

Laporte is making his 50th City appearance - but his first in the Carabao Cup.

16'
15'

City remain patient, as Chelsea continue to sit deep and invite pressure.

14'

Laporte misplaces a pass in midfield, as his nervy start to the contest continues. Willian then draws a foul on the channel.

13'
12'

Chelsea will be desperate to avoid conceding an early goal. Sarri will be satisfied with how his side have started.

11'

Possession stats: Chelsea 35% - 65% Man City.

10'

NO FOUL! Luiz pumps one out from the back, searching for the advanced Kante. Laporte makes a mess of the situation, missing his header, but Zinchenko is back to make a last-ditch tackle. Chelsea supporters want a free-kick, but again Jon Moss is unmoved.

8'

Chelsea are sitting back a lot deeper than usual, sticking rigidly to their formation. And after that 6-0 drubbing a couple of weeks back, is it any surprise?

7'

5'

NO PENALTY! The ball breaks kindly for Aguero on the left. He sees his cross blocked inside the box, and the Argentine feels it struck a hand in there! Jon Moss isn't interested in the slightest.

4'

City win a corner, which Chelsea deal with. But the Citizens are back in control of possession and knocking it around confidently.

3'

Remember, VAR is in use today.

2'

Jorginho leaves one on Aguero straight from kick-off, as he appears to catch the Argentine in the face with his arm! He escapes a booking. A bizarre start to the match indeed.

1'

KICK-OFF!

After the National Anthem and pre-match build-up, it's time for football!

Fourteen days after Manchester City thrashed Chelsea 6-0 in the Premier League, these sides meet once more, this time for the Carabao Cup - and it's LIVE!

-

DANGER MAN

16:25

FIVE MINUTE WARNING

Wembley is ready. Here is a reminder of today's starting line-ups...

Man City XI: Ederson, Zinchenko, Laporte, Otamendi, Walker, Fernandinho, Silva, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Sterling, Aguero

Chelsea XI: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Emerson, Jorginho, Kante, Barkley, Hazard, Willian, Pedro

16:20

It was a much easier task for City to reach this show-piece match. They survived potential upsets at Oxford United and Burton Albion, as well as beating Fulham and Leicester.

16:15

Chelsea have had to overcome a number of obstacles to get to the cup final, including a 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the third round. Sarri's men needed a penalty shoot-out to beat Tottenham over two legs in the semi-final, after knocking out Derby and Bournemouth in round four and five respectively.

16:10

Chelsea and Manchester City are set to face each other in a League Cup final for the first time - both sides have won the trophy five times with only Liverpool winning it more often (eight times).

16:00

He isn't the only one. Sarri has yet to lift a major trophy in his 29 years in management. You get the feeling he simply has to lead the Blues to victory today - or face the sack.

With that crushing 6-0 defeat to City just two weeks ago fresh in the mind, however, it looks like an impossible task for the Italian.

15:55

Sarri's charges warmed up for this contest with a 3-0 victory over Malmo in the Europa Cup last 32 on Thursday night, but they made a slow start to the game.

Asked the repercussions of his side reproducing such a jittery opening performance in today's final, the Italian said...

“It will be a disaster. I am worried about the first 30 minutes, only for the offensive phase. We cannot play our football without confidence but the level of application was good.”

Chelsea's Italian head coach Maurizio Sarri reacts ahead of the English Premier League football match between Bournemouth and Chelsea at the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth, southern England on January 30, 2019.
15:50

Guardiola on his side's chances of winning an historic quadruple.

"Believe me how many times one team in England has won four titles in a season? Don't put pressure on our shoulders. We don't deserve it. First for the club we are, [and] for the history.

"The legacy of Sir Alex Ferguson at [Manchester] United is incredible and he never did it. Liverpool, with all the European Cup titles in their pockets, they have not done it.

"So, don't put the pressure on one team in February or November, December, you have to win all four titles. It is impossible."

Pep Guardiola
15:45

FIVE CHANGES FOR CHELSEA

There is no Gonzalo Higuain or Mateo Kovacic in Sarri's XI, while Jorginho has been restored in midfield. Eden Hazard will play as a false-nine.

Kepa is fit enough to return in goal, but Marcos Alonso doesn't even make the sub bench.

15:40

EDERSON STARTS FOR CITY

Pep Guardiola makes just the one change from the starting XI that won in Schalke on Wednesday night, with Oleks Zinchenko replacing Ilkay Gundogan, meaning Ederson starts ahead of Aro Muric, who had started every other Carabao Cup game.

Sergio Aguero was the hero in last year's cup final and starts, while Vincent Kompany, the scorer of City's second in the 2018 showpiece, has to make do with a place on the bench.

15:35

TEAM NEWS

15:30

Hello and welcome to Eurosport's LIVE text commentary of the Carabao Cup final between Manchester City and Chelsea at Wembley.

The League Cup is may not be as prestigious as the FA Cup, but it's still a piece of silverware and to lift the trophy today would provide Maurizio Sarri with some much-needed respite as Chelsea manager.

For City, Pep Guardiola will be secretly hoping that Carabao Cup success is the start of an epic journey in the bid to claim an historic quadruple.
