Two goals from Noel Hunt helped Southend to a fine 4-1 win over Bury.
Fit-again Irishman Hunt put his side 2-0 up, with David Mooney and Jack Payne adding the others. Bury's goal came from Leon Clarke.
Hunt's opener arrived 22 minutes in, reacting to a ball off the bar amid a scramble with his third of the season.
He was able to make it two before the break as he found an open goal when visiting keeper Daniel Bachmann missed David Worrall's cross.
Bury replied through Clarke - breaking and firing in low and left-footed - but this was Southend's night.
Mooney added a third from the spot, drilling in after Payne was tipped up by Nathan Cameron.
And Payne himself wrapped things up, cutting in from the right and curling in a fine 78th-minute fourth.
