Leah Williamson has pledged her future to Arsenal by signing a new contract with the club. The England captain developed through the club's youth team before making her senior debut in 2014. Since then, she has made 232 appearances and scored 15 goals. Head coach Jonas Eidevall said he is "delighted" Williamson has extended her time at the club.

Williamson 'encouraged to be strongest version' of herself to empower other women

England captain Leah Williamson has signed a new contract with Arsenal, although the club has not revealed the exact length of the extension.
She has spent the entirety of her senior career with Arsenal and, as well as winning the Women’s Super League title, she also has four League Cup winners’ medals and has been part of two FA Cup triumphs.
After committing her future to the club, Williamson said: “Everyone knows what Arsenal means to me, but I think every time I sign a new contract, I feel that love ignite all over again.
“I’m very happy to be staying – this is a place where I can still continue to grow, develop and be challenged. As a group, we’re all very focused on bringing more silverware to this club and I can’t wait to get started again when the new season comes around.”
Earlier this year, Williamson returned to action nine months after suffering a ruptured ACL.
Head Coach Jonas Eidevall is glad to be able to call on her again and is encouraged by her decision to stay with Arsenal.
“Leah is an essential part of our team so we’re delighted she has signed a new contract with us. She brings us so much on and off the pitch – leadership, accountability and commitment," he said.
“Leah has a special bond with Arsenal and I’m looking forward to continuing to work together to bring more success to this great club.”
Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “Leah’s connection with Arsenal runs so deep – I can remember her as a girl in our academy many years ago, and I’m so proud of the determined, passionate woman she has become.
“We’re thrilled that Leah has signed a new deal here and I know our supporters will join me in congratulating her today.”
