Las Palmas win first Liga away game since 2001

The islanders built on their encouraging display in defeat against Barcelona last weekend, striking through Pedro Bigas on the stroke of half-time to hurt Eibar’s European charge.

''We knew it was a very, very important match,'' Bigas said afterwards. ''We had been waiting a very long time for this first win away from home.''

Victory carries Las Palmas level on points with Sporting Gijon in 17th, but they remain in the drop zone due to a marginally inferior goal difference. Eibar remain sixth, having lost five of their last six league games.
