Gary Neville's first experience of management continued to go from bad to worse when Valencia fans shouted 'donkey, donkey' after the 2-0 home defeat to Celta Vigo at the Mestalla condemned his side to a third straight defeat.
Neville watched watched as his team slumped to another home defeat, as Celta secured victory courtesy of late efforts from John Guidetti and Hugo Mallo to add to his woes. He has won only three matches in 16 Liga outings.
Fans have already urged Neville to quit the club bombarding him with chants of "Gary go now" as the England assistant coach looked on grimly from the technical area.
Valencia are 14th in the Liga table, six points above the relegation zone.
He will remain in Valencia rather than join up with the England squad ahead of next week's friendly matches with world champions Germany and the Netherlands.
"The two or three million people in Valencia need my attention this week,’ he said. "I feel it’s the right thing to do."
The last thing I want is for people here to say Gary Neville lacks commitment, because it’s not something that’s even been said about me in my life.
"I accept the fans were not happy, and I understand their frustration completely,’ said Neville of the chants against him.
"I've just got to concentrate on my job and the work I've got to do on the training pitch tomorrow.
"From my point of view, I have to focus hard on the matches ahead.
"I'm committed, I'm here, it's not my decision. I've just got to work hard, simple as that."
