Real Madrid sign Lucas Vazquez from Espanyol

Real Madrid have signed 24-year-old winger Lucas Vazquez from Espanyol just a year after selling him to the Catalan side.

The right-sided forward impressed in his season away from the club, scoring four goals in 39 games in all competitions.

Having brought Vazquez through their youth system, Real placed a buy-back option in the deal when they agreed to sell him last summer.

Real have activated that option, meaning Vazquez is Rafa Benitez's first official signing since being appointed as head coach.

In an official statement Real Madrid said:

"Real Madrid CF have exercised their buy-back contract rights over Lucas Vazquez in the existing agreement with RCD Espanyol.

"The player will remain linked to our club for the next five seasons."

Vazquez will be reunited with his Real Madrid team-mates when pre-season training from July 13th.
