Football news - Jordi Alba signs new Barcelona contract until 2024

Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba has signed a new contract with the club that will run until the end of the 2023-2024 season.

Alba’s current contract was due to expire next year in 2020 but this new deal keeps him at the club until 2024.
The new release clause is set at €500 million.
Alba, who will turn 30 in March, signed for Barcelona in the summer of 2012 after scoring one of the goals in the final when Spain beat Italy 4-0 at Euro 2012.
The full back has grown in importance to the team since Ernesto Valverde took over as coach in 2017 and has a good understanding with Lionel Messi, providing 20 assists for the Argentine forward.
Alba has been capped 67 times by his country and has helped Barcelona to win four La Liga titles and Copa del Reys as well as the 2015 Champions League when they won a historic treble.
