Barcelona players chased off pitch by Espanyol fans after celebrating Liga title win on away soil

Barcelona wrapped up the La Liga title with a 4-2 win at Espanyol on Sunday evening. The players celebrated on the pitch, but the home fans did not take kindly to it and some broke onto the pitch and chased the Barcelona players down the tunnel. The victory wrapped up the title for Xavi's Barcelona side with four games remaining in the La Liga season.

Barcelona’s La Liga title celebrations were cut short as a group of Espanyol fans chased them off the pitch and down the tunnel.
A comprehensive 4-2 win confirmed Xavi’s side as champions with four games of the season still to play.
Victory was confirmed at the RCDE Stadium of their city rivals Espanyol, who are facing relegation, but that did not stop the Barcelona players from celebrating.
Joined by other squad members and some officials, the Barcelona players gathered in the centre circle and launched into a celebratory dance following the final whistle.
Boos rang out as Espanyol fans did not take kindly to their rivals celebrating on their pitch.
Spectators eventually managed to make their way onto the pitch and after some evaded security, went in the direction of the Barca players.
The Barcelona players saw the imminent danger and ran for the safety of the tunnel as the number of fans entering the playing surface grew in number.
Fans gathered in large numbers and clashed with security as the scenes turned ugly.
Barcelona are 14 points ahead of Real Madrid with four games of the season left.
It is Barca's first title since 2019.
Robert Lewandowski scored twice in the victory over Espanyol that clinched the title.
