Four-match ban for Doumbia

Rennes midfielder Tongo Doumbia has been banned for four matches for his bad tackle on Bordeaux’s Jaroslav Plasil.

Doumbia, 21, was only shown a yellow card for the challenge in the first minute of the goalless Ligue 1 draw on December 17.
But the French Football League’s commission decided that, having viewed video evidence, the tackle should have been punished with a straight red card.
"I didn’t think I’d finish the match after making the tackle," Doumbia said after the match. "I did not see him coming, and I stuck out a leg.
"Fortunately he got out of the way, otherwise I’d have been sent off. It was more clumsy than malicious."
