Neymar set to undergo surgery and miss Real Madrid showdown

Neymar will undergo surgery this week on an injury he incurred against Marseille, Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed.

"[A] joint decision has been taken between the medical staffs of both Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazil national team," the club said in a statement.
In accordance with the player, it has been decided that Neymar Jr will undergo surgery in Brazil at the end of this week.
The 26-year-old was carried off nine minutes from the end of his side’s 3-0 win over Marseille on Sunday.

The surgery will be performed by the Brazil national team doctor and means Neymar will miss next week's Champions League match against Real Madrid.
In addition to missing PSG's seasons-defining match against Real, Neymar will also sit out Brazil's March friendlies against Russia and Germany.
Neymar's father had previously said that the striker would be unable to compete in the Champions League against Real Madrid due to a fractured metatarsal and sprained ankle, explaining: "His treatment will last six to eight weeks, whether there is an operation or not."
PSG trail Real 3-1 ahead of the last 16 second-leg game in Paris on March 6 but he would return to action in plenty time for the World Cup in Russia which begins on June 14.
