Lyon beat PSG 1-0 at the Parc des Princes in Ligue 1 to consign the reigning league champions to a successive league defeat and a fifth in their last nine in all competitions. The win see Lyons up into ninth in the table while PSG remain top, six points clear of RC Lens in second. The shaky run of results has put Christophe Galtier’s position as manager under renewed scrutiny.

‘Our accuracy in front of goal is back’ – Ancelotti after 6-0 defeat of Valladolid

Bradley Barcola scored the only goal of the game as Lyon beat PSG 1-0 at the Parc des Princes in Ligue 1
The result consigned the Paris club to a second successive league defeat following their loss to Rennes ahead of the international break.
Christophe Galtier’s side have now lost five of their last nine games in all competitions as pressure begins to build on the PSG boss.
PSG looked like the better side in the early stages of the game and looked to keep Lyon penned in their own half and create chances for their key attackers.
The home side had multiple chances to open the scoring in the opening minutes of the game with Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi combining well in and around the Lyon penalty area.
After the wave of PSG pressure subsided Lyon managed to get themselves into the game and create chances of their own. They had a golden opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot after Gianluigi Donnarumma took Alexandre Lacazette out in the box but the Frenchman hit the post from the spot.
PSG came out on top again after the restart, but the Parisian’s struggled to create chances and maintain the pressure throughout the half though and Lyon came back into the game.
The visitors would take the lead in the 56th minute through academy product Bradley Barcola.
Barcola got onto the end of Sael Kumbedi’s cutback and slotted the ball into the far corner to open the scoring.
A few changes ensued as PSG manager Christophe Galtier tried to get his side to click in attack but to no avail, and they suffered back-to-back league defeats after losing to Rennes ahead of the international break.

Talking point – Back-to-back losses for PSG

This loss for PSG is now their second in a row after they lost 2-0 to Rennes before the international break. Both losses have come at home and questions will be asked of Christophe Galtier, especially after an early exit from the Champions League too.
With Neymar and Presnel Kimpembe out for the rest of the season, the PSG manager will need to ensure that the rest of his squad are firing.

Player of the Match – Bradley Barcola

Lyon are a club that prides themselves on their academy products and another one has been making a name for himself this season.
Bradley Barcola netted his fourth goal of the season and looked good throughout the game. The 20-year-old had 94% pass accuracy while also completing two out of three take-ons. Barcola now has two goals and two assists in his last three Ligue 1 games.
