Tuesday’s Paper Round is heavy on the managerial news, with Thomas Tuchel linked with a return – not to Chelsea, but to Paris Saint-Germain. Elsewhere, West Ham have Rafael Benitez on standby with David Moyes close to losing his job, while Leeds have turned to a former Watford boss. Elsewhere, Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho is set to sign a new five-year deal.

PSG ready to re-hire Tuchel

Paris Saint-Germain could look to reappoint Thomas Tuchel if they decide to part ways with current head coach Christophe Galtier, the Standard reports. PSG won a close encounter 4-3 with Lille on the weekend, but otherwise, it has been a poor start to the year, with Bayern Munich beating the French champions 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash. Tuchel was sacked by PSG in December 2020, but the club would be willing to accept they made a mistake.
“He would also need assurances the club would be willing to protect him against player power and ask to be left to focus on coaching, without too much involvement in transfer market activity,” the Standard writes.
“Tuchel is looking for a club that is competing for titles in any of Europe’s top five leagues having turned down at least one mid-table Premier League club already. Jose Mourinho has also been mooted as a potential option for the hot seat at Parc Des Princes but he is likely to remain at Roma.”

Benitez on West Ham standby

With West Ham dropping into the relegation zone after their loss to Tottenham, the club’s hierarchy have Rafael Benitez on standby should results further deteriorate under David Moyes, according to the Daily Mail. Moyes is safe for now, but he is treading on thin ice with a match against Nottingham Forest next at home this Saturday.
“Benitez is on standby and wants the job,” the Mail writes. “West Ham's owners will be forced into a decision if they lose at home to Forest – with an increasing number of supporters already in the 'Moyes out' camp – but they have been unsure of where to turn next.
“Sportsmail has been told the club's hierarchy have no clear 'Plan A' with regards to potential successors they view as upgrades, having already seen their ambitious targets of Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel turn down the opportunity to enter into discussions.”

Leeds turn to Gracia

Over at Leeds, Benitez is not yet interested in the vacancy, the Mail reports, with the Premier League strugglers turning to former Watford manager Javi Gracia. Having left Al-Sadd, Gracia is available and would be willing to accept a short-term contract as Leeds aim to beat the drop.
“Leeds had been willing to leave Michael Skubala in interim charge after failing to find their preferred candidate to replace Jesse Marsch,” the Mail adds.
“However, Saturday's performance and 1-0 defeat to Everton triggered further talks among the worried club hierarchy, who are fearful the threat of relegation has become a very real prospect.”

Garnacho deal close

Alejandro Garnacho has reached an agreement in principle to sign a new five-year deal at Manchester United, ESPN reports. Only details relating to image rights are halting the announcement, and the 18-year-old is set to extend his contract until 2028.
“The new deal will see his salary adjusted, according to his new status in Erik ten Hag's squad due to the progress he has made since making his first team debut last April,” ESPN adds.
“Garnacho has since made 27 appearances for United, scoring three goals, and has been one of the revelations of the Premier League season so far.”
