Kylian Mbappe came off the bench to score a penalty, but Paris Saint-Germain were held to a 1-1 draw by Toulouse FC at Stadium de Toulouse in Ligue 1. The draw moves PSG on to two points after two games. They sit eighth in the table, with Toulouse moving up to third – level on points with Montpellier HSC and Olympique de Marseille, who sit in first and second, respectively.

Watch as Mbappe and Dembele laugh in the stands during PSG draw with Lorient

Kylian Mbappe came off the bench and looked to have inspired Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain to an away win at Toulouse, only for a late sting in the tail that held them to a 1-1 draw.
The Parisians were ponderous in possession in the first half, much like during last week's 0-0 draw with Lorient, but that all changed after Mbappe and debutant Ousmane Dembele came on after 50 minutes.
Mbappe soon won a penalty, being tripped by Rasmus Nicolaisen after dropping his shoulder and cutting inside the Dane. Mbappe dispatched the spot kick himself.
Mbappe nearly set up Goncalo Ramos' first goal in a PSG shirt, but the Portuguese missed the ball after good interplay between the two, and Dembele slipped when he had the goal gaping.
Those missteps came back to haunt PSG because, with little more than five minutes left, Ashraf Hakimi inadvertently tripped Zakaria Aboukhlal in the box. A penalty was given and Aboukhlal followed Mbappe's lead, scoring the spot kick himself to ensure it finished all square.
PSG's best chance of the seven added minutes fell to Hakimi, following good work on the right by Dembele, but he could not head on-target.
Winless after two games, PSG are eighth in the table. Toulouse have twice as many points on four, and sit third.

TALKING POINT

PSG are a different team with Mbappe. It is stating the obvious, but what else can you say after such a vivid demonstration of the difference between Mbappe-free PSG and PSG with perhaps the best player in the world?
Mbappe's introduction gave PSG urgency, created space - because Toulouse defenders, cautious of his pace, had to drop deeper - and added a cutting edge to an otherwise pretty toothless attack. But for a fluky penalty at the other end, the script was perfect for the Mbappe camp. He came on and saved the day.
The waters surrounding contract negotiations with Mbappe remain muddy, but one thing does look clear - PSG have no chance of winning the Champions League this season without him and may even struggle to win Ligue 1.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH

Kylian Mbappe (PSG). The France captain was on the pitch for less than a half, but was clearly the best player. He pretty much single-handedly dragged PSG into the lead, then created a great chance for them to double it. It is telling that Mbappe led the side in both shots and shots on target, despite others playing for twice as long.

BIG MISS! 74' - Ramos and Mbappe link up and the latter, with the angle against him, squares when he might have shot, but Ramos cannot convert what looks like a tap-in.
PENALTY TO TOULOUSE! 84' - As they exit the box from a corner, Hakimi steps on the back of Aboukhlal's foot and it is a penalty! Unlucky, but the referee had no choice.
GOAL! TOULOUSE 1-1 PSG (ABOUKHLAL) 87' - Aboukhlal sends the goalkeeper the wrong way to equalise from the spot.
