Manchester United close to £100,000 signing of Newport County teenager Regan Poole

United have made a £100,000 bid for the Wales Under-17 international, as part of an overall package that could eventually be worth as much as £400,000.

The Daily Mail reports that Hull City and Brighton have previously shown an interest in Poole, but United’s emerging interest is now likely to trump them - after Hull made an initial approach worth around £60,000.

The youngster has been on trial at both United and Liverpool in recent months, with Louis van Gaal deciding to make a formal approach.

The signing of Poole could be part of a busy afternoon of activity for United, with the Premier League side expected to announce the signing of £36 million forward Anthony Martial before the summer window closes.
