Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard plies LA Galaxy fans with free beer at unveiling

England midfielder Steven Gerrard was officially unveiled by MLS side LA Galaxy on Saturday - but his unique gesture to fans grabbed all the headlines.
Galaxy trounced Toronto FC 4-0, with Gerrard's former Liverpool team-mate (yeah, not for very long, we know) Robbie Keane helping himself to a hat-trick.
At half-time a sharply-dressed Gerrard was introduced to the fans as he came onto the pitch. As is standard in these situations, he formally introduced himself and told the home support that he couldn't wait to get started with his new side, help them win trophies, and the usual spiel.
However, he also provided a neat touch which went above and beyond the usual 'new signing' PR.
Gerrard and his representatives left large quantities of beer with three of LA Galaxy's top 'supporter groups' with a little note.
Here to provide you with more detail is one of those collectives - LA Riot Squad, via Twitter:
Here's what the accompanying note said:
LA Riot Squad,
Even though I’ve yet to wear an LA Galaxy jersey, I am excited for the opportunity to play in front of LARS and earn your respect.
Supporters are the lifeblood of any club and I know that with your support we’ll challenge for MLS Cup again.
As a token of my appreciation for what you do for the club, I wanted to provide you with the refreshments for the 4th of July.
I look forward to meeting you at tonight’s match.
Respectfully,
Steven Gerrard
