Head coach Michael Appleton said Oxford United could not have returned to form at a better time as the U's made it three wins in a row with a dominant 4-0 victory at home to struggling York City.

Jordan Bowery, Chey Dunkley, Danny Hylton and Kemar Roofe scored as United moved up to second in League Two on goal difference after Plymouth lost at Barnet.
The victory, their first in the league at the Kassam Stadium in 2016, also saw Oxford open up an eight-point gap over fourth-placed Accrington Stanley.
United have not lost since their home defeat to Stanley just under two weeks ago, and Appleton said: "One of the things we spoke about after Accrington was we had not had back-to-back wins for a while.
"It is a fantastic time to go on an unbeaten run and we have three wins behind us now.
"We don't want to let that slip and if it is our time to go on another good run, then fantastic.
"It has come at a good time, obviously home form has not been as good of late so to score four goals and keep a clean sheet, we have got to be delighted with that."
Bowery made it four goals in eight days when he gave Oxford a 15th-minute lead and Appleton has been delighted with the 24-year-old's impact since signing in January.
He added: "We hoped he would make an impact and he got his goal tonight. He will be delighted with his contribution again.
"I am sure he will, like everyone now, enjoy this for a couple of hours and look forward to Plymouth on Saturday."
The defeat leaves the Minstermen two points adrift of safety and four games without a win.
York manager Jackie McNamara was aggrieved with the decision to award a corner which led to Dunkley's goal and the floodgates opening.
He said: "I'm angry with how the game finished.
"I thought we had the best spell in the game just before the second goal which obviously came from a corner, but was clearly our ball.
"Saying that we should still be able to deal with it, but once the second goal went in the heads dropped and we started feeling sorry for ourselves.
"They are a good side and could smell blood at that point and were pushing on.
"From our point of view we need to stick together, we have a massive game against Dagenham on Saturday now that we need to go and win.
"Oxford are not at the top of the league for no reason, and they showed that at the end."
