Player SACKED after Panenka goes horribly wrong

Now, we all love a Panenka, don’t we? There’s very little better in football than when a player completely pies off the keeper to dink the ball down the middle of the goal.

But for those who fluff their lines and fail to score, the consequences can be oh, so bad!

That was certainly the case for Independiente de Campo Grande's Brendix Parra whose horrendous miss came in a penalty shootout loss in the Copa Sudamerica.

Parra’s effort was so bad that La Equidad keeper Diego Novoa didn’t even need to save it with his hands; he used his midriff instead.

Parra’s contract has since been terminated subject to legal ratification.

Club president Eriberto Gamarra said: “The board of directors decided to dismiss Brendix Parra for the way he kicked the penalty.”

But Parra seems to have taken it pretty well. He responded by saying: “It's a difficult situation, but life goes on.”
