Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince has signed Manchester United defender Danny Simpson on loan until the end of the season.
The highly-rated 21-year-old provided cover for Gary Neville and Wes Brown at right-back for United last season, making eight appearances - including two starts in the Champions League.
He finished the season on loan at Ipswich, where he made a further eight appearances.
Simpson returned to Old Trafford earlier this summer and took part in the club's recent tour to South Africa, but with Neville close to full fitness, opportunities for the youngster at Old Trafford will be limited this season.
Simpson becomes Rovers' third signing of the summer following the captures of goalkeeper Paul Robinson and midfielder Carlos Villanueva, but Ince promised there is still work to be done in the transfer market ahead of the new season.
He told the club's official website: "There's another couple of targets we are looking at and we hope to bring them through the door in the next couple of weeks."
Rovers kick off their new campaign with a trip to Goodison Park where they face Everton on the opening day of the season.
